If humans ever make robots with human level intelligence do you think we should design them to look just like humans or leave a few distinguishing features so they can't be mistaken for a human?

As we were made in Gods image, our creation shall be made in ours. You know, if you believe in that sort of thing

If they develop an actual sense of self-identity, then I'm sure we will also see them develop their own representation for physical self without our ideas.

Do you think people will be more afraid of them if they choose an appearance that doesn't look human?

I don't think we'll be afraid so long as we hold a superior position to them.

Their choice of appearance could be odd, but the same can be said for how other beings of life in animal kingdoms see us humans.

We'd be shocked for sure if it's that much of a drastic difference.

no, the uncanniness of a robot appearing and acting identically to a human would be far more disturbing. also your assumptions about what AGI would look like arent necessarily correct ... no reason why it even needs a single human-like physical apparatus

As long as that "Uncanny Valley" aspect is still prominent, robots will never truly look human.

There's no need to make robots like humans unless that's their sole purpose, to look like humans. Robots are all about efficiency, why rely on legs when you can use wheels, why rely on 2 arms when you can have 4, why use a head and eyes when you can use a hidden camera to detect distance and movement, etc etc

Hard to say, but I’ll immediately lean more towards no.
