nah sorry had to wrap up 1928 for the Best Films Thread
No problem, no need for extreme punctuality. As long as one of us doesn't peep like 3 recs and the other 0 it's all good

I hate when there's so many versions of films i feel like i've seen every Kenneth Anger short at least 30 times
Same with Blade Runner OG

you didnt directly rec it but i was trying to catch up on everything notable for 2021 and you kept talking about it

Well it was notable, one of the most talked about films of the year so that makes it notable by default
But i could have told you it felt like a resurgene of the French New Extremity, it was written in the stars that you wouldn't love it lol
I would have thought you would at least be able to appreciate the way Julia incorporated sound & music in general into the film. That was probably my fav aspect of Titane

the commitment of the dads character and performance was the best part
Also i didn't talk about it that much, did i? i loved it because it's that one rare flashy & edgy Flyhiii film that stands out from the rest of that year but it for sure isn't perfect
Love to see what she will do next though, Julia is talented
the commitment of the dads character and performance was the best part
Fun fact i missed some of the dialogue because i was watching with friends the first time. And it made me not realize crucial nuances of the film which made the dad creepy af
On a rewatch the dad was adorable in a way and very tragic
the commitment of the dads character and performance was the best part
Also i know your stance on s***scenes not adding much but that car s***scene was one of the, if not THE peak of the film for me
That build up.. that sound design... it was one of the most eerie things i've experienced in a film that year. I LOVE sound design like that. It was straight up demonic
I remember the whole room who was watching it was DEAD SILENT all throughout those minutes of her slowly walking to that car with that ominous score playing
Those moments are what really tattoos a cinematic experience on my brain and i live for it

Lynch the god of that sort of sound design right from the jump on Eraserhead
Michael Mann for more realistic stuff
Yeah obviously the car s***scene was integral to the plot but it's the sort of weird body horror thing that Cronenberg did that I never really was that into. The Fly a masterpiece however.

But i saw on Lbxd before that you do appreciate Naked Lunch, very very cool and weird movie
Yeah of course Lynch is the master of it. You preaching to the choir here And even though sound design played a HUGE part in the atmosphere he would try to create... i'd argue that he was able to do even if you took that ability away from him
I got this big hardcover of his paintings this week.. and believe me when i tell you they hit you in the same way his audiovisual work does
There's only 1 Lynch... absolute KING

I guess you got to tip your hat to 2001 which probably took sound design to the next level as much as it did anything

You're asking things to which you already know the answer to... 2001 MADE Noé
I gave Naked Lunch a 4 that's not how I remember it
Crine i can't blame you. That movie f***s you uppppp
@Elric YOU WAS PROBABLY OFF THE SHROOMS SPEAKING TO THOSE TALKING BUGS IN THE FILM

We're down for weird but that was like big brain intellectual weird which we are not
It's been like idk 2 years? But iirc there's a scene where bro is like writing on that living typewriter til it gets an o***** or some s***?
We're down for weird but that was like big brain intellectual weird which we are not
I don't see how from my experience.. unless big brain intellectual means someting entirely different to you

Are you aware of the book where the film was based on?
