Xl is targeted towards actual skaters tho, I want a more realistic experience. The front flips and overextended push really put a bad taste in my mouth, I’ll play thug2 if I wanna do that goofy s***. Not gonna hate tho it’s too soon we’ll see what it turns into

I’ve owned every skateboarding game ever made outside of the s***ty Tony hawk ones you had to use the board for lol and I don’t play on pc only at homies cribs. I love the skate games but Xl is as realistic as it gets, the way you flick and pop determines how your tricks look and it’s not easy at all it actually takes patience and mad attempts to do s*** just like the real world. Hardcore mode in skate 3 was fire but xl & session take that to the next level, session stiff as s*** tho. Xl with ea budget would be amazing, all the game needs is better graphics, an actual story and more maps & customization. If ea don’t incorporate the control scheme from xl/session as an option I’ll be surprised

with that being said bruh can we just get this f***ing game by the end of the year atleast. i know the gameplay footage is hella not ready but im assuming thats from very early stage and they are farther in the process by now idk

reding through this thread i feel like ever since skate 3 the community got split due to different game “metas”. having played every skating game there is and then playing skate for the first time, it blew my mind. the raw and gritty world, the realism, everything was just perfect to me as a real life skater. i played the s*** out of it. when skate 3 released, the game design changed to appear to a more casual audience (easy mode, bigger ramps/parks, just in general more goofy and unrealistic). so to continuously have fun, you had to abuse game mechanics and find loopholes and glitches to make the game a challenge. ghost reverts, dark catches and chuflankas for example. the hand coordination you need to pull those off is crazy and unlike any skating game ever. learning how to trickline felt like learing a trick in real life to me. that’s why i loved it so much.

in my opinion, the devs should have addressed the “exploits” and made people more aware of them, so that everyone knows about the current “meta”. a lot of my more casual friends didn’t enjoy s3 because they went into spot battles getting beaten by a guy doing miracle whips, flips and supermans throughout the whole mega park on easy mode. that’s boring af. that’s why the whole competitive scene was playing on normal and doing reverts and manuals. not to sound elitist, but i feel like if you didn’t play s3 in the comp scene, you unfortunately never got to experience the game’s true potential. and i’m not faulting the community but the devs/publishers for this. i think they did a bad job portraying those mechanics openly in s3.

for skate 4, instead of going the usual difficulty route, they should just have a basic mode which everyone plays in and then add a more realistic mode for people who focus on style. something like the street games or olympics where you get points for how clean you land a trick and how stylish it was. i think that’d be dope and make everyone happy

The fun is the difficulty and realism imo, when I played the skate games I’d always do realistic s*** and film it lol. Just hope they have an even more hardcore mode and optional dual thumb stick controls. To each his own tho I know the casual gamer won’t want such a difficult game I just hope there’s options to make it more grounded

lol its weird ur that good IRL but prefer the limited gameplay of Skater XL especially the gravity and physics feeling so off

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Since xl I can’t go back to the skate controls so I’m hoping they include the option. Either way this game is a day 1 cop for me I’m sure it’ll be good

It feels way closer to reality than any other game. Session comes close with the similar controls but the movement is way too stiff and it’s way harder, graphics are much better than xl tho

Just watched gameplay footage of skater xl and this dude did a kickflip to blunt slide down a 12 set and landed in a long ass poweslide how is that realistic at all

Need the graphics to be gorgeous tbh, visually I thought Skate 3 was overall a step back

But with current gen tech there's no reason this game shouldn't look amazing
