Someone put me on a mineral sunscreen for dark skin

I never had acne in my Teens, but in my Twenties I started to get it (maybe 19 actually but close enough).

I eventually got sick of it and started to Cleanse and Moisturize every single day and it honestly made my skin worse.

Last year I tried ditching all the products and instead simply washed my face with a face cloth in the morning/after work/after the gym and drinking tons of water/slowing down my consumption of sugary drinks and it helped BIG time. I still get the odd pimple but it's mainly because I'll pig out and eat a bunch of junk for a few days once in a blue moon and then remember why I try to avoid doing that s***.

following a natural beauty skin care routine if u interested. no chemical s***

Anyone looking into eye creams etc I feel like it gave me milia spots, just thought Iā€™d mention it. It made me cautious to use them.

My goodness do not use a flannel & face scrub and expect effective results. it's too abrasive and can cause micro tears in your skin.

Firstly, just make sure they indeed are blackheads and not sebaceous filaments.

Then you can look into incorporating an oil cleanser as a first step to really dig in and get out all of the gunk, dirt and pollutants your skin sucks throughout the day. An affordable option is "DHC Oil Cleanser". A bit more higher end option is the "TIMY Cleansing Balm"

You also need to look into a BHA - something like PC 2% BHA. This is where you'll really see the difference. Chemical exfoliants will heal and treat your skin safely and effectively.

Also, make sure to burn that face scrub and flannel.

So Iā€™m going to buy some products online. Iā€™ve got the DHC oil cleanser and a BHA exfoliator so far. Do I need to look into a toner also? I have pretty big pores. And any recommendations for a moisturiser? Anything else I need? Thanks man

Nice! No, donā€™t worry about toners. Instead Iā€™d recommend a serum of eccense. A product with a high concentration of treatment ingredients.

    Two great options are:

    • COSRX 96% Snail Muscin
    • Hadalobo Gokyjun Premium Lotion

Both should be applied firstly after washing your face. They provide heavy moisture which you need to prevent blackheads from forming.

For moisturizers, it depends if you want a light or heavy duty one.

    • PC Omega+ (light)
    • Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin (thick)
    • PCA Skin 001 (light)
    • CeraVe PM (light)

Hey! I know it's very overwhelming if you're just getting started. If you have any questions, feel free to @ me.

Let me know if those marks are either PIH (Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation) or PIE (Post Inflammatory Erythema). Dark brown / tinted as opposed to a clear red mark.

To battle dark spots and acne scars you need to just know a couple of basic tips.

    • Chemical Exfoliants are your best friends. AHA which target the top layer of your skin and shed dead skins. BHA go deeper into the skin. If you are using these for the first time, use max 2-3 times a week on alternating nights. I'll get into this a bit more. SPF use is mandatory.

    • Retinol will be super effective. I suggest only using it at night. You MUST use SPF the following morning.

    • Vitamin C serum can also be super effective.

    • SPF is essential.

    • Alpha Arbutin is a skin lightening ingredient and is used to combat both PIE and PIH.

So let's make a hypothetical routine. I'll make it as affordable as possible with proven products.

    DAY:

    • Wash with water based (CeraVe Foaming Wash)
    • Apply Vitamin C (Melano CC)
    • Treatment Essence (Natrium's Alpha Arbutin Serum 2%)
    • Apply Hydrating Essence (Hada Lobo Gokujyun Premium)
    • Moisturizer (PC Omega+)
    • Sunscreen (La Roche Posay Anthelios Mineral)

    NIGHT

    • Wash with oil cleanser (DHC Oil Cleanser)
    • Wash with water based (CeraVe Foaming Wash)
    • Apply BHA (PC 2% BHA)
    • Apply Hydrating Essence (Hada Lobo Gokujyun Premium)
    • Moisturizer (PC Omega+)

This is pretty simple and straight forward. Let's say you're like "Fuck you Campari, these are too much and out of my budget, just give me 3 products which will help me the most!"

    • PC 1% Retinol (Be careful with this, extremely strong and will peel your skin off / in a good way)
    • PC 2% BHA
    • Sunscreen (Rohto Skin Super Moisture Milk)
