Hey! I know it's very overwhelming if you're just getting started. If you have any questions, feel free to @ me.

Let me know if those marks are either PIH (Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation) or PIE (Post Inflammatory Erythema). Dark brown / tinted as opposed to a clear red mark.

To battle dark spots and acne scars you need to just know a couple of basic tips.

    • Chemical Exfoliants are your best friends. AHA which target the top layer of your skin and shed dead skins. BHA go deeper into the skin. If you are using these for the first time, use max 2-3 times a week on alternating nights. I'll get into this a bit more. SPF use is mandatory.

    • Retinol will be super effective. I suggest only using it at night. You MUST use SPF the following morning.

    • Vitamin C serum can also be super effective.

    • SPF is essential.

    • Alpha Arbutin is a skin lightening ingredient and is used to combat both PIE and PIH.

So let's make a hypothetical routine. I'll make it as affordable as possible with proven products.

    DAY:

    • Wash with water based (CeraVe Foaming Wash)
    • Apply Vitamin C (Melano CC)
    • Treatment Essence (Natrium's Alpha Arbutin Serum 2%)
    • Apply Hydrating Essence (Hada Lobo Gokujyun Premium)
    • Moisturizer (PC Omega+)
    • Sunscreen (La Roche Posay Anthelios Mineral)

    NIGHT

    • Wash with oil cleanser (DHC Oil Cleanser)
    • Wash with water based (CeraVe Foaming Wash)
    • Apply BHA (PC 2% BHA)
    • Apply Hydrating Essence (Hada Lobo Gokujyun Premium)
    • Moisturizer (PC Omega+)

This is pretty simple and straight forward. Let's say you're like "Fuck you Campari, these are too much and out of my budget, just give me 3 products which will help me the most!"

    • PC 1% Retinol (Be careful with this, extremely strong and will peel your skin off / in a good way)
    • PC 2% BHA
    • Sunscreen (Rohto Skin Super Moisture Milk)

Holy a lot of information thanks for taking ur time, appreciate it.

So i def have the post-inflammatory, to treat that I should get the alpha arbutin? Or should I go to the derma again and talk to the guy cause he said it was some inflammation i never bothered to get what he prescribed cause i didnt care that time.

What is SPF and what is retinol used for, just in general? Also for dark circles hows the ordinary 5% thing?

Lastly u mentioned at the end the 3 important things but u didnt include the retinol in the day/night routine or is the name different?

    Thanks

I would definitely go back to the dermatologist. Theyā€™re professionals. Just let them know the situation.

Alpha Arbutin is a great ingredient but itā€™ll be even stronger once you add in the others.

I didnā€™t include the retinol because itā€™s very powerful. If youā€™ve never used acids before, itā€™s better to start off using a BHA to get your skin prepped. Itā€™s basically like going to the gym for the first time and attempting to lift the heaviest weight there. Let your skin build up itā€™s tolerance to these ingredients.

What about for dark circles/puffiness under eyes and whats SPF?

Iā€™ve never dealt with puffiness or dark circles but have heard great things about TOā€™s ā€œ Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCGā€

Iā€™m actually not an advocate for eye creams or anything like that. I find it to be a waste of money. Whatever is effective on your face should also work 2 inches under your eyes. I get that the skin may be a little more sensitive but thereā€™s nothing otherworldly about the ingredients in eye creams that should warrant someone to buy an exclusive product for it.

SPF is just another term for sunscreen.

update on my natural skin care:

hanging up my bamboo face scrub powder. too abrasive.

just found out Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar acts as a chemical exfoliant/chemical peel so that will be my version of a non-chemical chemical exfoliator

also pairs very well with a Bentonite clay mask but i live with neighbours and dont wanna walk around with that s*** on smh. might have to say f*** it

Maybe try salicylic acid or double cleansing with an oil cleanser

You cant really get rod of them permanently as its p much based on your pores but you should be able to at least manage them

I canā€™t be bothered for a full routine. Fortunately my skin has never been an issue. A facial cleanser and moisturizer all I need.

rt + plenty of water obvs.

luckily enough i never had acne at all my whole life save for 1 or 2 pimples here and there and my skin was at a softness + clarity i was happy about the whole time.

going to dive deeper into skin care and take this s*** more seriously
