ayyye Sage got the BNM, more eyes should be going to this record now

only an 8.2 score, but hey, a BNM is a BNM and they rarely give these out to underground rappers these days

That's amazing. Big W for him

man this credit page is wild, man's worked for David Byrne, did remixes for Charlotte Gainsbourg and Björk before working with FKA twigs, Wiki, Navy, Caleb Giles, and Slauson Arca later too. Crazy how already relatively early there's some lowkey major collabs happening here

Crater Speak is so frustrating to me lol one second it’s a f***ing revelation, just incredible, and then the next I’m like “get this king krule s*** outta here yuck”

You don't like King Krule? I love Slauson's singing and I don't mind the slight similarity at all

btw it's a bit confusing when you say Crater Speak cause that's the name of the book and subtitle for both AQF and V now

I used to dig it but now it just doesn’t hit my ear right, something about that low, draggy tone just gets under my skin in a bad way

BUT I am talking about V with that post, haven’t even checked the book out sadly. Still got lots of love for Slauson, I think A Fond Farewell got its hooks deeper into me and is a lil more eclectic 🤝

@sentient_sherm_bag just revisited V (crater speak) after a break from binging it a bit too heavily, but yea it's still 2020 AOTY and easily a top 5 project to come out of this scene for me tbh. Every sound and word on it is just so incredibly emotive it's extremely minimalist while AQF is extremely maximalist, both are brilliant in different ways and I'm always going back and forth on which one is my fav tbh.

His next one is prolly my most anticipated album this year tbh.

ikr Bandela is rly talented for sure, he made this animated video for Medhane too

he dropped that Black James Blake EP last year, need to revisit that one I honestly don't quite remember what I thought about it lol
    nelsonbandela.bandcamp.com/album/black-james-blake-e-p
also featured on the Quelle Chris album last year and worked with Terrence Nance before alongside Nick Hakim and others for his Terrence Etc project, which has more of an indie sound. But honestly I like his voice much more than his singing tbh

First time revisiting Cold Water since the allegations.... it's really good tbh, smh. Basically perfecting the minimal loop type raps. Still feel uncomfortable for giving him streams tho

Navy, Earl, Craven, Wiki, Zeroh, Black Noi$e, Terrence Nance and many many more still follow him on twitter.... but none of the girls in the scene cept BbyMutha, and neither do MIKE and Slauson. Wonder if there's any more info we don't have or if they're just being ignorant, I tend to think it's the latter...

Navy x Yasiin track review in RS. All my homies hate RS but it's still the biggest music magazine, so

    rollingstone.com/music/music-features/navy-blue-feat-yasiin-bey-breathe-song-review-1114517

Also fun fact, according to aoty.org P4k again remains the only critic site to have reviewed the album

  • Jan 20, 2021

Haven't been keeping up with the releases for a bit gonna check out this navy blue project now.
