Lol yeah it's a bit weird. Like Earl, Mike and Woods are obvious influences and sometimes Navy also has a very economical and poetic way of expressing himself, but it's never quite as cryptic. You could say the lyrics are kinda free-assotiative at times, but cryptic they're mostly not.

But fantano is usually whack with labels like that so I don't even bother to get heated over it anymore lol

Word—I feel like it’s be safer to call Earl abstract or cryptic, but Navy is mostly really transparent, with some poetic/abstract moments lyrically.
