Rly liking this tbh. Beats are tight, Akai goes hard and YL got a cool voice
Dear diary...
Show was cool, very much what you expect for a second show planned on the fly hosted out of a juicery for a venue lol dudes showed up mad late, show started at 9 but doors didn’t end up opening until 10:30 cuz nobody showed up til then and then they had to re-do the sound setup so the opening beat set started at like 11
I was actually way too f***in early, I got there before the venue owner even got there and I looked dumb as hell telling people “yeah its here but siifu and anakin aren’t here yet 😅 just hang out its cool” in the cold
But the s*** was very intimate, very cool, Big Kahuna and xeno...something (forgot his name) were very down to earth dudes even making chit chat with the nobodies which I thought was dope. Crowd didn’t respect Kahuna enough I think he was a little insecure about the performance and people were tired cuz it was almost 1 when his set ended
Liv.e was there but the special guest was actually Akai which is nuts. I’m glad I went just for that cuz I had to let him know he’s one of the best to ever hold the mic, his music is suited to a live show for sure.
He’s so low key that I’ve actually seen him in the city before and didn’t realize
I don’t think Siifu ever showed but I left at like 1:15 cuz I got work today, not sure if Ahwlee was there, Anakin complimented my FlySiifu hoodie so that’s worth $10 imo lmao. Saw Laurence Burney and wanted to tell him I’m a big fan of his writing but he was busy
it was cool to just hang outside and listen to the Mutant Academy guys talk about what they’ve got coming next and goof around
Rly liking this tbh. Beats are tight, Akai goes hard and YL got a cool voice
He did some of this last night

Akai was the special guest? def share your experience man, was it crowded?

☝️ Right above ya sir, it wasn’t crowded by most standards (probably 50 people at most including performers) but no exaggeration everybody knew each other except for me and like 2 other guys looking awkward (and a fine woman by the name of Naíma making pleasant conversation). Much more of a kickback than a concert. EVERYBODY was a beatmaker, everybody wanted to collab, everybody had a crew and went way back with whoever they ran into at the show
Just shows me you can’t really insert yourself into scenes like this, you can chill on the peripheral but if you really want to work one has to find their own people and build upward on their own 🤝 cool experience regardless

wow that's crazy but also makes a lot of sense it'd be like that sort of beautiful actually but I can see how it could be awkward and intimidating as well. Don't think it's wrong to just drop in as a fan tho, would you go again?
You should've dropped some Sherm CDs in different bags just waiting for someone to hit you up online lol interesting you say it doesn't look like you can insert yourself easily, when from the outside it looks very inclusive. That's the social dynamics you just can't really observe like that on twitter.

Oh I’d most definitely go again, it was a really dope experience all in all. And yeah precisely, the dynamics are complex
Like of course with enough weed and an unthreatening presence everybody’s a friend and you can probably talk with folks for hours. But telling them “yo, I make beats - different s***, it’s dusty and avant garde” is the same as saying “yo I’m a big fan and I breathe air!” They’re gonna hit you with a “oh word 😐” lolol
Overall very cool energy and dudes were infinitely more humble and approachable than any others I’ve met but yeah, verrrrry tight knit group
Demahjiae and Mavi sound so much alike. The delivery and flow
Yeah I told @DwindlingSun this when he introduced homie to us. I like Demahjiae's cadence better because he's not gasping for air when he raps like Mavi does
