took him out cause it's clear the whole crew is distancing themselves from him now, would be wrong to still list him. Personally think it's also wrong to just erase everything he contributed tho, Poorboy remains one of the most important milestones even if it's a bit soured to listen to now.

yeah he's been talking about that on twitter, crazy he got that all lined up just for this year... given the two singles he might be dropping another project with Edgar too

Are we separating art from the artist? Med music can still be enjoyed like before. If we start scrutinizing personal lives we would not be able to enjoy anyone. Smh

when the content centres around liberation, justice and all that, it’s hard to enjoy when the person’s real actions don’t match. feels performative and disingenuous.

but I also can’t be mad if those words still resonate with others and helped them out of darker times.

yeah I often feel like cancel culture just draws lines where people stop being "good", acting like anyone ever was free from error. It feels really toxic also with the way these statements are written that you have to prove yourself to be "pure" to not get dragged into the mud... US prides itself so much in being god-fearing yet one of the simplest Christian doctrines that anything can be forgiven seems to be forgotten.

I don't think Medhane was necessarily disingenuous but his actions obviously show that his thinking process was flawed somewhere, so this def makes you more wary of his words. But I also think it isn't some proof that his words were performative. And even then I always took all these guys words as somewhat performative, but not in a bad way - their words often seem to primarily be about motivating themselves to do better and be resilient. Especially with Medhane he often repeats himself with his messages in different songs so it's almost like a mantra. The words don't have to be wrong just because he didn't follow his own advice.

hmm what makes you think that's a Med beat? Doesn't really sound a lot like AFB to me, they're much more choppy and I don't think he's ever did such a minimal soul sample loop type beat. Def don't want it to be because this joint is hard af

Someone in one of the other videos where the instrumental is posted suggested it's a AFB beat

Better to not talk about him until this is sorted out. There’s plenty of other rappers to discuss here.

He does that alot. Joe Budden went to an earl show in 2017 and said earl was performing with his back to the crowd and "rapping to his homies" for most of the show
