True but Dre was all sampling in that era. He found cohesive samples from 70s funk classics and crafted a monstrous sound with g-funk. He wasn't getting on the keys and going crazy or anything like that.

In the 2001 era he obviously went and got Storch etc and his original production went up.

I thought it was just me for a second. When I made that post I was actually on Gorgeous on the album play through. The album version of Gorgeous has a worse sounding mix than the single version which makes no sense.

it's solid...a few strong standouts and some other stuff that doesn't completely land as well

Its up to par with Compton and gta contract to me. If you STILL a Dre fan this album is a treasure.

I don’t know why they decided to drop this album. I don’t feel like they had anything fresh to say conceptually or sonically. They’re both all time legends of course but this feels limp.

Snoop sounds good so I'll give him points for that.
