"Farrakhan condemned Malcolm for his efforts to establish ties with civil rights groups. He wrote also that "the die is set, and Malcolm shall not escape, especially after such evil foolish talk about his benefactor, Elijah Muhammad."

Who is Elijah Muhammad you ask?
    hmmm
"Malcolm X publicly accused Elijah of "having 8 children with six different teenage girls" who "were his private secretaries." Elijah confirmed the rumors in 1963, attempting to justify his behavior by referring to precedents set by biblical prophets."

I always wondered why media tended to kinda ignore a lot of the blatantly questionable stuff in rap lyrics around the hotep and NOI s***. Maybe they’ll start pointing it out now that this Kanye/Antisemitism story is gaining traction ?

You are so late if you think niggas just now started f***ing with him lmao

    Like 4 decades late

Ktt2's whole aura seems like a suburban white kid who just started listening to rap in 6th grade

Nigga decided to jump on the Farra train when he became nothing but a glorified Pimp, cult & loan shark lmao.

Now dont get me wrong all that did have its place in the 50s n 60s, n its understanable why miggas of 80s n 80s would fall into that s*** due to the crazy LA riots, NY hiphop police, politicians n old labels literally trying to shut down Rap, police brutality going unnoticed, bank freezing + denials & just all the other craziness going on like war on d****, the crack epidemic, not a lot of respurces for black people etc.

But today? Over mainly clothes? In your 50s? My nigga shut up. Get some real problems, then find some real solutions.

Youre late & the party been over. Lets not reignite that chokehold & abuse on not only Rap but the black community in general.

All facts imagine if adidas actually give him his way, we wouldn’t be hearing any of that bullshit kanye is screaming now lmao he talks like he’s for the people but he’s really out for self …

    nah thats what hes saying

hes saying those rappers never got mainstream backlash for it but now kanye has the world looking at him for this s*** and people might start coming down harder on rappers for similar s*** because it’s a topic now

    Yeah

I mean there was mainstream backlash to a lot of it, like Professor Griff getting kicked out of Public Enemy and up to the present day. But you also have s*** like Jay Electronica calling himself the “Farrakhan of Rap” on songs with Jay Z, performing on stage in the NOI uniform and getting explicitly endorsed by Farrakhan, and rapping about the “Synagogue of Satan” then getting an 8.4 best new music review in Pitchfork

And I love Jay E, and I admit I laugh when rappers talk about Jewish lawyers, but the casual anti-Semitism in hip-hop seems like a weird anachronism in an age when hyperventilating about ambient bigotry is at an all time high

NOI influence in hip hop was nothing compared to the damage drill rap culture is doing right now.

Farrah used to have heavy influence n manipulation in Rap until that era Rappers grew up.

They were being used & most realized it as they got older.

They still got backlash then tho but yeah it was more accepted back then as well in Rap due to the young genre filled with young ass impressionable kids.

Of course some of them probably still have bias. Like a reformed rascist.

Trust me. You dont want this to become super popular in Rap again. It was a f***ed up mafia. And Kanye is literally reverting progress & taking niggas backwards while giving power back to old gate keepers.

N why Pac had beef n "snapped out of it" super quick thank God.

i mean we're certainly past the peak of this kind of thing in rap, i read this hilariously dorky article earlier today which showed that various NOI keywords were most used in lyrics during the '90s

    vocativ.com/culture/religion/islam-hip-hop/index.html

but even the relatively small amount is still weirdly given a free pass, like the people in hip-hop who are sensitive about anti-Semitism are lowkey just waiting for farrakhan to die and then it will all end for good

yeah i mean thats the whole argument for why artists and politicians are chummy with Minister Farrakhan, right, he did more good than bad, he inspired the community to embrace self-determination, the NOI's bigoted dogma is the DLC and you can just focus on the day-one content

it's funny, though, Kanye shows that it's possible for people introduced to NOI-adjacent ideas to just take the parts abt Jews, ignore the "clean living" part, and integrate it into their own antisocial, self-destructive personal worldview

a true victory over nihilism that would reject the self-loathing of violence displayed in drill rap can't come from such an angry view of the world as the NOI or similar versions of Black nationalism

how is allah and islam keywords, exclusive to the NOI

    sunni muslims use those words

maybe if they used words like yakub and elijah, that would make sense

Niggas was f***ing with Farrakhan in hip hop likely before anyone who has a problem with it was born. Maybe hip hop isn’t for you if that’s something that offends you lol

How were they being used when he offered security, squashed beefs and not much, if any of that actual rhetoric made it on any notable mainstream records. What was Farrakhan using them for lmao

What “blatantly questionable” hotep NOI s*** is in any visible hip hop worth discussing outside of Jay Elect I’d really like to know

you cannot blame these young men for being exploited by an industry that profits off their self destruction same way we can’t blame oldheads for being NOI when they suffered so much greater then we have imo

it’s a battle i’m constantly having everyday, with family members still in the hotep s*** but i have a lot of empathy for them

i don’t have empathy for kanye bc he pick and choose when he wanna black. he just know that being anti semetic will bring mad attention to him. simple as that as sad as it is to say
