Been giving this a lot more thought lately, and I've come to the conclusion that there isn't much in the way of reasons not to lie on your resume. Now obviously don't lie and say you're a f***ing experienced train engineer if you only been at McDonald's, but small lies that make you look more attractive on your resume I'm realizing there's nothing wrong with.

Do you guys lie on your resume? Hype up your experience, say you've done roles you haven't, ect ect?

no but i did stretch the truth doing things like using my capstone as work experience.

you can do it, but i would not do it for credentials like lying about degrees. every corporate job i've held did a background check and it involved verifying whether or not i had a degree (among other things). worst case scenario, schools can sue people who lie about that.

Let’s just say I’ve never taken a finance class in my life but give me an hour on Microsoft word and I’ll get an interview at Goldman Sachs tomorrow

Honestly no. Fortunately I have a good background so I believe it speaks for itself. Additionally, I would hate to be put in a position where I get called out on something

oh yeah, i forgot. if you try to lie about your credentials and you're trying to be a doctor or dentist or something in the medical field, that comes with a heavy criminal liability and feds may come after you

  • May 5, 2021

no, but there is nothing wrong with it. They basically ask you to lie as they want perfect people who dont even exist.

If you're lying about credentials to be a doctor you kinda deserve that

You’re 100% not supposed to f***ing lie lmaooo, but you can stretch the truth:
