You’re 100% not supposed to f***ing lie lmaooo, but you can stretch the truth:

“Strategically implemented measures which resulted in workplace efficiency & overall colleague moral increase”

    • you moved the water cooler closer to your team.

Don't straight-up lie i.e. make up jobs if it's a high-level employer, because they will smoke you in the background check. They will check your employment history.

Everyone exaggerates to s*** though. No one's getting hired off of "yeah my excel skills are average at best". Sell yourself mf

Yep. Just glue some vague s*** together using buzzwords from this list:

    thebalancecareers.com/action-verbs-and-power-words-for-your-resume-2063179

"Ayo I filled out a spreadsheet" ---> "Conceptualized optimal workflow strategies for consolidating company resources"

You should never flat out lie. You will get caught. What you can do however, is drastically over-exaggerate your responsibilities. Never use words like “assisted” or “helped”. Instead of saying “Assisted in the development of Tableau dashboards...” say “Developed Tableau dashboards...”

Or instead of “Helped lead a project...” say “Led a project...”.

Same with quantifying result-based items. Instead of saying increased productivity by 50%, say you increased it by 130%. Just don’t be too far-fetched and ridiculous for each use case.

There’s literally no way for them to prove this kind of stuff and as long as you’re not a dumbass who puts s*** they can’t explain, then they’ll never know and you’ll look a whole lot better.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t even matter. Resume just gets you in the door. So hype yourself up way more than reality. Once you get into the interview process they just want to see how you think & approach problems. Your prior experience will matter very little in new roles other than universal skill sets.

no but i did stretch the truth doing things like using my capstone as work experience.

you can do it, but i would not do it for credentials like lying about degrees. every corporate job i've held did a background check and it involved verifying whether or not i had a degree (among other things). worst case scenario, schools can sue people who lie about that.

Yeah there's no lying when it comes to transcripts and degrees and stuff, but any work experience, go off

  • I’ve blatantly outright lied on resumes

I had an interview for a warehouse manager when I was 18

    Walked in there like

i worked at a hardware store and helped the department manager with scheduling, merchandised shelves, and locked up at the end of the night. my LinkedIn says Supervisor/Merchandising Team Lead lmao
