Two of the biggest albums of this early decade (Due Lipa & The Weeknd) used 70s synth pop. I don't know what to make with this information but it always seemed funny to me

it's funny cause the 70s didn't have any synth pop. that genre emerged in the early 80s. Blinding Lights sounds like an a-ha hit from 1984. 70s was disco.

For hip hop, it's starting to go back to the 2000's in terms of sound and music videos

    Lol...what?

In the 2000's, we had way more variety than today and Drill/Trap(unless you count Jeezy/TI/Gucci) wasn't even a thing.

  • Dec 3, 2021

-Pop is less EDM/"Tropical House" influenced and more hyperpop and Disco influenced

-Hip Hop is more melodic and less lyrical than ever before in the mainstream and Drill is at its peak

If you think punk was regressive compared to what we heard this year then I'm not sure what you're expecting to get

80s pop revival is a low-key reflection of how the music world is slowly cannabalizing itself and leaning on past tropes because society is running out of new ideas and truly creative people

I mean how many of today's artists can really be the diamonds of the past without the necessary pressures and restrictions of previous eras? modern music is made with a heavy assist from modern technology and computers.
