I agree but his fans don't see that. You don't take the kind of break he took at his stage of his career (his prime year). He can take that kind of break in his 40s when he's a bit washed or not as solid anymore, but hey. What's done is done.
I'd rather he do that than oversaturate himself, which he was bout to do after DAMN./BP. He'll be fine. People said the same thing after the 3 year wait from GKMC to TPAB. People don't forget that quickly, especially after u make a big impact like DAMN. did commerically. If Frank or Rhianna dropped tomorrow it would be the same case
Okay, stop. Lol.
I'm just asking a question, you dont like to eat?? My fav food is probably fried chicken or salmon

That's cool.

I don't think he needed to oversaturate himself but releasing some stuff would have definitely helped.

Yeah probably, if that was his goal. But I don't think it really is anymore tbh. He proved he can put up the numbers if he wants. And he always gonna do what he wants. That's the type of artist he's always been

I think after Damn Kendrick had a chance to really level himself up as far as being a mainstream force but the wait feels like it’s putting him into Frank territory where he has his audience and niche and that’s it

Fair enough.

why do you say he was about to oversaturate himself after DAMN./BP? you're saying if he was to drop in 2020 or 2021 after BP in 2018 that he would oversaturate himself?
is it still over-saturation if it's really good stuff? genuinely wondering
i know people can get sick of hearing someone all the time when it's not yielding the best results, but is it the same when all of the stuff is high quality and it's the regular 2-3 year window?

I wonder if the pandemic didn’t happen if Kendrick would’ve dropped in 2020
Kendrick needs a rollout before he drops again, if The Weeknd is flopping off a surprise drop then Kendrick might fall into the same trap

Kendrick doesn’t want his album out until he can tour. That’s why he delayed it. Schoolboy Q said on his stream that he already heard some of Kendrick’s next album and this was a year ago

I think 2020 would of been fine. But during the DAMN./BP era bro was everywhere and even though I love the features and everything else he made during that time a lot of it was the same or very similar type of s*** like Big Shot off BP. I think breaks are good for both the artist and listener. Both sides can get burnt out. It's a balance

i hear you. i personally don't consider BP when it comes to his discography. it's not like he's on every song. but yeah i feel you on all points

i can believe it but has anyone connected to kendrick confirmed that theory? or that's just the logical explanation

I wouldn’t put any stock in Q saying that; that doesn’t mean the album was done or releasing soon, Q just heard stuff he was working on
At this point I’m skeptical if Kendrick would’ve dropped yet even without the pandemic. Think about it, there’s also the whole TDE thing and it seems like they had to get some business worked out, plus he’s been focusing on Keem too
You're the delusional one. Family Ties/Range Brothers didn't do s***. They came and went, especially in terms of impact. His last project being well-received doesn't mean s***. Critcs and fans talk s*** about Drake all day but whenever he announces new music, everywhere gets buzzing because he's Drake and he does numbers.
Kendrick hasn't gotten any of that kind of buzz since DAMN. dropped and that's not surprising. He's just been that inactive.
Why are you mentioning Drake in this thread?

I think he was supposed to
"I think that one thing that has helped me grow from last year to now is the little mini tour. I did the mini tour before all this going on, seeing how many people actually care about the music. It was tight seeing that and taking that home. I’m just grateful I got to experience that, because without that I don’t know where I would be right now. You were supposed to be out, I was supposed to be out. I’ve had a year to sit down and just think about the next experience. I feel my thing now is to detach myself from the wrong things and attach myself to the right things, things that I should feel. Like sometimes I’ll detach myself from a lot of things that just upset me because I feel like I don’t need to deal with it."
That's Keem talking to Kendrick
