    All art isn’t entertainment, just a pro-tip 😊

    bad art isn’t entertaining

    N95
    Rich Spirit
Count Me Out (good song ruined by tiktok drums)
    Silent Hill
    Mr. Morale

Funnily enough these all flopped on TikTok while United in Grief, an actually good song, was an organic hit there

    Count me out tiktok drums?

    Nigga what?

    Ya sound crazy itt

Mr. Morale wasn't mean to be super commercial and Not Like Us proved that Kendrick could easily make more commercial/club joints if he steered his focus to it.

Mr. Morale, much like TPAB, is largely stripped of commercialized songs barring a few tracks like N95 and I.

But the album was still very acclaimed, streamed well, sold well, won many awards, and sparked a high grossing tour. So, it was far from panned or a flop.

Mr. Morale hate doesn't land at all in 2024

    bad art isn’t entertaining

S***ty movies are bad art, some of the most ‘entertaining’ movie watching experiences of peoples lives are roasting & laughing at s***ty movies (bad art)

Mr morale wasn’t a disappointment to any mature adult.

Maybe if you only value catchy TikTok music then sure

Yall so corny to boil enjoyment of an album down to whether someone is mature or "healed". Yall really no better than "You need a high IQ to like Rick & Morty" ass niggas fr.

Can you explain some of the flaws you noticed and why you don’t like it? Genuinely curious

There really wasnt a coherent statement made w the album imo, the kyrie/kanye-like 5g/vaccine/cancel culture commentary rlly drags down the album even though the songs that were reflections on trauma were great. Feels like bro was critiquing everything without rlly delving into anything meaningful in those moments. Worldwide steppers is a great example of this like what the hell is bro actually tryna say lol

Also musically it had so many lacklustre moments like purple hearts, die hard, the baby keem interlude, silent hill, the prod just wasnt as exciting as kendricks best and the attempts at making poppy songs are like kendricks worst in his discog imo

    But yeah. But still subjectively.

It’s an incredibly nuanced conversation that involves a lot of discussion about art history and entertainment history. A type of discussion that is not apt to do well on this platform.

That’s an oversimplification but there is a point to be made about people who can not actually listen and read the lyrics to a song and still be dumbfounded by what it “means”

Its really annoying cause theres probably like a million joyner lucas songs abt mental health and trauma and s*** are we supposed to act like those are good too

Nah fr, we should be using the sales of an album to determine enjoyment instead

    Agreed

But surely we can agree that pencil and paper saying music/art HAS to be entertaining or that it is solely and only MEANT to be entertaining is 100% empty brain behaviour right?

It’s always the mf’s who don’t understand the album trying to downplay it (funny bc they’re probably the ones who needs its message the most)

Or they’re so close minded that they truly believe sales = quality

Mr morale was a very flawed album in execution and i wish yall could acknowledge that without acting like everyone disappointed in the album was mad that it wasnt tiktok music lol

    Disagree

You can tell the Drake stanbase on here has shrunk dramatically cuz they would’ve been all over this thread not even 2 months ago
