they already have $15 minimum wage in those cities.
some places like Alabama, where I live, will never raise their minimum wage unless forced to. They are still at the current federal minimum of $7.25
$15 min wage is too high in a lot of places tbh maybe instead of pushing to more than double min wage they could try $8.50 or $10 an hour
Question: why do people keep begging for the government to raise the federal min wage? can't the cities and states do it themselves?
plenty of cities have min wages of $15 and have had it for a while now
To force those cities and states that have it less than 15

$15 minimum wage is $31,200 per year. That's still not a tremendous amount of money, even though the cost of living here is cheaper
To force those cities and states that have it less than 15
Yea but why won’t the states raise it themselves? It’s possible isn’t it
Are there no people acting as mayors or governors who want to raise min wage ?

Birmingham wasn't even trying to go to $15 and they shut that s*** down

The same argument could be made for every company. Any company could pay a minimum wage of 15 if they wanted to. Some of them will some of them won’t, but if they have to by law, all of them will.

but why fight for something that wont pass when u can do gradual change

The Biden plan already WAS gradual change. Their plan is to increase it to $15 by 2025, not immediately

Watch them doing exactly that when it’s mandatory.

watch businesses go out of business and watch prices go up

2025 is only 4 years away
2025 is only 4 years away
how f***ing gradual do you want it to be? you want 50 cents a year so it takes us until 2036 to get to 15 dollars? We're falling behind inflation already.
Just say you don't think minimum wage workers should be able to survive on their earnings if that's what you really believe, don't know why you're hiding behind this "gradual change" thing
Synop, I'm just not gonna respond if you're gonna troll like this
Manchin and Sinema will not vote for the stimulus with the minimum wage raise tacked on, and they have made that clear. The fact that they can disregard the parliamentarian is irrelevant. They could literally fire and replace her if they wanted to- it doesn’t make a difference. Minimum wage kills this bill.
Synopsis is delusional. For someone so condescending, he has no idea what he’s talking about and this thread has demonstrated that perfectly.

I think minimum wage should vary by location and not just a blanket minimum wage. so dont strawman me

Sure, Some places should be more than $15, like in LA where cost of living is really expensive

No, if a company can't afford to pay their workers $15 an hour that company shouldn't exist

based on what?
based on what?
based on the fact that workers deserve to be paid a living wage for their labor.
based on the fact that workers deserve to be paid a living wage for their labor.
why $15 and not $14?
So you are okay with automation and people getting less hours or laid off?
would you rather see 6 people make $10 and hour at a job or two get laid off for 4 to make $15 an hour?

If the federal minimum wage become $15 then NY for example gotta be at least $20 minimum to be fair

$15 is arbitrary but if we make concessions to people like you then it'll get whittled away to barely anything
I am more than ok with automation, in fact I work in that field and I know that just because something is automated doesn't always mean someone loses their job.
AND if someone does lose their job there should be a safety net for them, but that doesn't work too well here in America since welfare has been totally eroded
