i still think drake had the more “listenable” diss track. hes good at making diss tracks that become hits. back to back was played on radios for months. psychological warfare.
drakes mistake was having skeletons in the closet. push and ye having some only makes them stronger cause theyre the antiheroes in this storyidk i feel like if drake had real dirt surrounding his marriage at that time it probably wouldve been ugly for him considering the direction he was heading in. i will give drake that, he is good at maing hits out of diss records but that isnt going to work with everyone. you need to know your opponent. a back to back isnt going to work against a lyricist like pusha. he didnt expect pusha to respond as hard as he did. you can tell drake thought it was going to be sweet because of that sigh on duppy. underestimating the opponent was his biggest mistake. people wouldve kind of looked past what pusha said had he responded with something at least. even if it was on some weak supa ugly type s***, just defend yourself.
