unless the majority believes there is an imminent threat (ie the average joe feeling the effects) a solution won’t be a priority since the funding isn’t there.

Edit: I’ll tell you this. In my apartment building there’s mostly people in their 20s to 30s. I’ve been living at this complex for about 2 years now. When I first moved in we had a recycling program with a specifically marked dumpster for it. I recycle so I was like let’s go. Our property management company warned us multiple times about people throwing regular trash and non recyclables into the bin or they weren’t washing out s*** like bottles and glass etc.

Because we kept sending these incorrect items the company was being fined/charged extra s*** on top of what they were already paying to provide the recycling service

Well after multiple notices they finally pulled the plug on the recycling program because people just didn’t care

Now I have to kind of go out of my way to dispose of my recyclables because others didn’t care.

This story is why this country is so f***ed

Solutions are only going to be implemented if there’s mass immigration from flooding or mass starvation and even then it’s gonna be too late

honestly, i think if it really gets bad we'll force changes. Humans arent actually that dumb. Right now its some greedy f***ers at the top raping the land and filling it up with their own s***, but we're only complacent because so far there aren't really major observable problems in our lives. If iclimate change isnt a hoax more of the general pop will start to recognize soon enough.

but the real problems are the 2nd and 3rd world countries where the waste our country is dumping is poisoning their land air and water, but theyre too small to fight corporations backed by our government/army. not sure how thats gonna change without dismantling our whole s***.
