Answers itt so far just confirm this was such a bad year for hip hop
yeah man everyone knows that immortal technique is at the top of the rap game right now
Gunna
Thug sold more first week and still doing 30k a week 3 months later so no

Don't gotta drip, I can leave it to Gunna.
It was supposed to be Uzi's comeback season but instead Gunna ran the year and he did a pretty good job. Drip or Drown 2 is still the wave in these streets
Of all the answers in the thread I'd say if we're just talking numbers/features then its Dababy and Megan, but I don't feel like they're there quality wise, I like their music but it's not like Future in 2015 or Drake 2015 in quality, in terms of iconic albums I'd say Thug wins because it's selling and its excellent. It feels like in the streaming age we don't get those years where some rapper comes and dominates both in quality and in quantity
Freddie Gibbs and Lana Del Rey
If we really talk about who elevated their career/status this year, it's those two.

bad year for mainstream, otherwise it was fine
Carti and Uzi could have made this their year
Carti has been and still is in the conversation tho and hasn’t dropped s*** this year
