    Dababy
    Gunna
    Thug
    Tyler
    Carti

why are you saying gunna and carti? i liked DS3 but i never went back to DoD2 and carti hasn't done much this year. if we're talking trap artists I preferred Young Dolph and Key Glock's collab and Sada Baby's stuff

He’s goat but dude couldn’t be more irrelevant

not wrong but he definitely took a step up in notoriety this year compared to years prior. It was otherwise a pretty quiet year for the genre

quite clearly DaBaby but it's like in wrestling or basketball where everyone is injured and someone just takes advantage and ends up a star/champion because of it...

we in a weird phase rn where the Big 3 are quietly moving on from that being the priority due to age and their replacements haven't popped up. DaBaby himself is 28 going on 29.
YB and Kodak definitely are gonna be two of those next guys but they just can't let go of old ways of moving smh.

Once you realize that rap's fandom goes above 25 (and honestly these probably the fans you want, under 20-25 year olds are so fickle lol) statements like these are very ridiculous. Gibbs had one of the biggest albums of the year culturally and you're saying he's irrelevant bc his s*** wasn't on Triller/TikTok and all the charts

How can you say YB and Kodak are up next and then make that statement

I love Gibbs he is one my top 10 rappers of the decade but we are talkin about relevancy here. And bandana was cool but I wouldn’t consider it a landamark for hip hop, piñata will always be a timeless album, not bandana

because one audience isn't objectively more or less important than the other and as someone who is in his early 20's, we're all only 2-3 years away from being in a different demographic.

the kids who are early 20's now are finna be mid-late 20's...the kids who are 18-20 now finna be early 20's...the kids who are 14-16...etc. etc.

Thats why Kodak and YB will be next up because they're so young and already have impacted so many demographics that will be important in the next ten years. As far as Gibbs...there is no singular hip hop culture anymore. There are the kids under 20...kids in their 20's and older 25-30+ fans...all three segments are important for different reasons. The under 20 y/o's are just the youth, s*** starts with them...the people in their 20's are the tastemakers for the most part and the 25-30+ fans are either gonna be when you know something has gone mainstream or when you know you've got a dedicated fanbase beyond gimmicks and hype because grown people aren't really moving off that.
