The plastic surgery s*** is weird man, this is what I'm talking about. It's like people are being forced into this now because of social media.

@emu @Renni
its real and its f***ing depressing
TV and mags would say what's in fashion, sure, they'd give examples of fashion, sure, but that relationships is entirely different from how social media has people speaking directly to you and you speaking directly to people
executives trying to tell ppl things via older media = larger and more generalized audience, less opportunity for quick feedback cycles due to lack of quick connection; telling ppl things via social media = differing sizes of audiences, no necessity to generalize, and feedback is instant, meaning more standards are claimed to be set and more peer pressure (from other ppl/users) is added onto individuals who participate
peer pressure from pre-social media came in the form of your literal peers and ppl around you; now it can come from some rando you don't know who'll get 500 retweets in a roast of u
its a depressing thing to realize
you got girls wanting to become influencers and boys wanting to become runway model types without knowing the cost it takes to get there
its either connections or you have s***with the right people (willingly/unwillingly)
weirdos in this thread
yes beauty standards are mad and surgery has increased but surgery was always common and the beauty standards were worse before.
before it was white blonde blue eyes and huge breasts. at least different types of bodies are being appreciated.
if you stepped out of your house once in a while you’ll realise the world isn’t social media.
i absolutely agree, but social media can give people very f***ed up warped views of themselves because they can't be like the latest influencer
yeah, people are more insecure than ever so they feel a need to change themselves but the second you get surgery it isnt reversible, it opens a whole bag of regrets like look at them girls that want to have a huge ass, theyre undertaking dangerous surgeries just to have a big plastic ass, I dont even understand the fascination with having a huge ass, if you have it cool, if you dont have it also cool, were humans not f***ing cows you dont need a whole lot of meat like im gonna be eating it, I just wish everybody including me loved themselves this world would be better for it

I honestly don't mind fake parts.

sure the world isn't social media but the thread topic is explicitly about social media
TikTok moderators were told to suppress users with “abnormal body shape,” “ugly facial looks,” “too many wrinkles,” or in “slums, rural fields” and “dilapidated housing.”
Do they mean fat and ugly
or disabled and ugly?
Needing to constantly try to “fix” yourself whether it’s for your own opinion or others is lowkey mental illness.

Leavin your phone and going on a walk or journey surrounded by nature super great for your mind and soul
I won’t lie. As an avid anime watcher, I’ve questioned the creators motives sometimes when they do blatant sus s***. Reason I stopped watching Re:Life even though it was fire
Surprised that more people have yet to talk about this.
