Thoughts on d*** addiction and how a society should solve it ?

There’s lots of focus on safe access to syringes etc, but I could just imagine if 1840 China gave out Opium pipes it wouldn’t really do much to solve the problem and fall further under subjugation of the British

On the other flip side there was Duterte and Marcos who are just massively killing “drug-users”

Obviously many ways to deal with d*** addiction. Interested to hear your thoughts

You can really feel how connected big tech and the American state is when you look up "CIA cocaine" on Google lol

Offering safe opium pipes or whatever wouldn't have ended addiction but it would have reduced fatalities, which is the point, cuz you can't get clean if you're dead.

Discussions about d*** addictions are usually focused on customers but imo the problem should be tackled from the root, the suppliers. Its a complicated issue but any policy that doesn't start with regulating what big pharma sells, stopping collaboration between d*** enforcement agencies and cartels, addressing the economic conditions which push farmers to d*** cultivations, and asking where and how exactly are these gangs getting their guns from won't get far imo.

This sounds pretty routine tbh. You could probably find hundreds of articles like this last year and the year before that: military officer inflates security threats to direct pentagon budget towards his weapons platform.

D*** use is a coping mechanism in response to mental or physical trauma and disorders.

You’re never going to solve the problem by trying to chase down and brutalize every addict and dealer on the street. It’s literally never worked.

The only way to create a long-term solution is address the root causes of the issue:

-Invest in communities and raise the standard of living for the poor

-Medical coverage for everyone, so people have free access to mental health resources and regular doctor visits instead of self-medicating on the street

-Promote equity and allow people to have a fair path to pursuing their dreams instead of subjecting people to relentless structural violence

-Provide housing for everyone even addicts and people with a long criminal history. Shelter is a human right, but unfortunately many people in this world don't agree with that. Homelessness only worsens outcomes for people battling addiction and leads to more death and violence.

If you think this stuff is too expensive, consider how much money we spend on law enforcement and ask yourself if that has made any kind of positive change.

while thats true its always fun that they are announcing the conflict beforehand entirely here

the rhetoric shift from "oh we are so smol army give us money" to the overt "give us money for WWIII"

  • reading about how during WW2 (up until near the end of the war) jews that emigrated to fascist italy from nazi germany were essentially treated better than those who emigrated to the netherlands, UK, and France over 85% of italian jews survived WW2 and stayed in the country after the war, where in the UK they were already drawing up plans to ship them to MENA before the war was even over

Has anybody made this observation yet?

The western eurasian river valley civilizations of Egypt and Mesopotamia, in the middle of deserts, were eventually conquered by people from areas that were less agriculturally productive but richer in other ressources useful themselves to warfare (metal, timber, etc).

Only heard negative things about it and the first chapter I read was awful. I like "Why The West Rules, For Now" better
