uhhh it really wasn't how you think it was my parents weren't revolutionaries, they simply lived a good life under USSR. they were working people just like their parents were, but still they were set early on with decent jobs and an apartment. my dad would regularly mention how things became super f***ed in the 90s although that didnt mean much to me at the time he was telling me about this

books I would find were mostly fiction or textbooks (one of my grandparents was a teacher and so we had mad physics and math books), plus an occasional book on Lenin or bolsheviks or war. im p sure I remember my parents had a copy of the little red book; when I got mine not too long ago I recalled the photos on the first few pages. they deny it though or just dont remember

it wasn't structured and I never read it to learn anything, mostly just to pass time. but it was good stuff and it allowed me to look into the era and make sense of it not through hearsay but from actual material items created back then. this is also why I never fed into the whole dictatorship and horrifying life conditions propaganda s*** that became so common as years went on
