i think a lot of they genuinely don't understand what socialism is and are just repeating things
its an epistemology of ignorance; lots of one word answers, sweeping generalizations with nuance to explain phenomenons of the world

like, there were obviously a cabal of men who decided to have a war against communism/socialism (notably in the mccarthy era)

these men had class consciousness and they understood that communism does work, and they will fully lose their privileges they have now. i'm sure many people in the CIA / high institutions in government know, too.
these people who have class conciousness have a real reason to be against a proleterian revolution.

on the other side, there are people who are against it, but they have no idea why - it's all they know. they haven't put as much thought into it like the cabal has. they just repeat surface level arguments the cabal has made. epistemology of ignorance. easy answers that explain the world in generalizations.

Id have to disagree, within the current climate I dont think its possible.. we saw the attempt in the 60s and it was met with violence and institutional pushback, and these forces have only gotten stronger. Once environmental disasters happen enough to destabilize the state maybe..
