does that not kill motivation for people to pursue more difficult careers? or is there still a sense of "valuable labor -> higher compensation"

    the latter

You own the product you produce. Some people will obviously produce more value than others there’s no problem with that. And socialism doesn’t aim to make everyone take the same amount of what is produced overall. There will be that discrepancy and it should be allowed to remain but stable relationships between higher and lower money makers must remain

The big issue socialism tackles is the difference in class created by capitalism

how much of a discrepancy would there realistically be? would billionaires and multimillionaires exist?

is there still varying levels of compensation for varying difficulties of work? genuine question btw.

certain concepts acknowledge different people have needs specific to them, and skills specific to them as well

a good socialism would acknowledge this

A janitor will receive the full value of his labor but the full value of his labor doesn’t equate to that of a engineer who helps construct bridges and damns or something. However at the very minimum both should be making a livable wage.

You can’t make billions or millions through your own labor. That requires you taking other peoples labor. The thing is that being that rich wouldn’t really be desirable in a socialist world since the idea of luxury that is predicated in capitalism wouldnt exist

Not necessarily. A worker co-op isn’t socialism either when profit motive still exists

For socialism to remain stable there must be a major change made in how commerce and economics functions in regards to business structure and market dynamics

so it seems unlikely to become a reality in North America, right?

Yeah the US has been running a successful 80-year long war against labor rights in its own country. Idk when we’ll see it but it probably won’t be in our lifetime. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fight for it

that seems reasonable. are we (USA) currently in a position for everyone to make a liveable wage?
