this is so weird reading this, not sure why PSL feels the need to compromise their principles like this, makes me glad my party is staying out of this election entirely.

Communists cannot support imperialists no matter how much lip service they pay to "socialism" and "the working class". The sad thing is that Bernie isn't going to get the nomination anyway so this is all pointless; its not like PSL is relevant enough or going to attract enough votes to swing the outcome of any elections so their tactic of not running the LaRiva/Peltier ticket in "swing states" is just hubris on their end, and shows a lack of clarity on why theyre running their own candidate in the first place. Obviously its not to win so why not just actually commit to it instead of this half-hearted semi-endorsement? Again, its silly and shows that PSL is willing to compromise their principles without actually explaining why theyre doing it.

Whatever your reasons are for thinking Bernie’s an imperialist, he’s definitely much less so compared to every single candidate that’s been propped up so far besides maybe Tulsi. Bernie would not allow any of the s*** the US gov has pulled in Bolivia and Venezuela under Trump’s administration. To me that’s worth something.
Also I think it’s stupid to pretend Bernie can’t win the nomination when that’s the same s*** people said about Trump.

Bernie is an imperialist because he's been supporting American imperialism since NATO intervention in Yugoslavia forced his hand into that cookie jar, its not really difficult to understand. He's supported most major regime change operations and continues to call world leaders like Maduro and Kim Jong-un "tyrants" and "dictators", has said that our drone program has done "some good things", took part in the Russiagate bullshit, and so on and so forth. Even if you accepted the premise that you've put forth that he's "better" (though I shouldnt have to explain to socialists that capitalism cannot be reformed or contained), why would a communist party that's attempting to build toward a revolution put forward this confused line? If I'm a dummy and I dont know a damn thing about socialism, why would I support PSL if Bernie and the DSA are so great? At least they fully commit to the idea of Bernie's campaign and don't have to hide behind a hypocritical facade of supporting him begrudgingly.

So like I said, communists can't support liberals and imperialists because ultimately it just makes us look weak and hypocritical when they inevitably betray us or just flop out entirely, you don't even need to go back to the Jesse Jackson campaigns of the 80s to see what happens when communists integrate into the DNC and inevitably liquidate their entire organizations, just look at whats happening in the UK today with the demise of Corbyn and the rise of the far-right. At a certain point you either support social democracy or you don't.

You know deep down that this isn't true, that Bernie is just one person, and that he cannot control the security arm of the capitalist class that is the FBI and the CIA, who have already assassinated leftist leaders for far less, and who Bernie won't ever reign in. In fact Bernie himself has said many times that his actual election is less important than the movement behind him so on this particular issue you're actually much farther to the right than he himself is. I know this election is sexy and exciting but its time to actually learn from the mistakes of the American left rather than repeat them over and over at the expense of the rest of the world who isn't so privileged.

Exactly. He's not the same person he once was before obtaining the modicum of political power he has today and he's also not some secret communist in disguise, this is just wishful thinking and desperation.

well this why I brought up PSL to begin with, how do you expect to challenge the advanced portions of the working class and put forth a legitimate proletarian view when you can't even have complete faith in your presidential ticket to do so? its pandering and its free labor for the DSA.

I don’t know why you’re saying I’m farther to the right than Bernie. Nothing before that sentence backs up that illogical statement
I’m saying there’s many good reasons to support Bernie. Not that this election is the most important thing on the planet.
Also the less privileged are actively hurt by American left abstinence in American politics.
