    theory, history, cia s*** idk

    Theory

    • The Marx and Engels Reader is very useful and the language is pretty simple.

    History:

    • The Age of Revolution: 1789-1848 is about how the French Revolution and Industrial Revolution worked to uproot feudalism then spread industrial capitalism across Europe.

    CIA S***

    • Operation Gladio: The Unholy Alliance is about US covert operations in past war Europe, rigging elections and assassinating people etc
    • Whiteout by Alexander Cockburn covers all type of Spook s*** but mostly focuses on the US ties to international d*** trade and Nazis who escaped punishment

I wonder why ppl don't talk more about the first wave of deindustrialization which occurred inside the US, from the Midwest to the South between the 40s to 80s.

This is coming from someone who encountered whatever this subject is for the first time tho

For the first one it says the relation between X and Y, why would W matter if it isn’t asking forndirect relations

I second the Age of Revolution, and recommend The Cold War and the New Imperialism. It covers a ton of material, basically a world history from 1945 to 2003, but its written very accessibly and pretty short at about 350 pages from what I remember. Good to get a general idea of the time period.

It’s pretty crazy because you can see that the industrial capacity of the US shifted from a generalist one to one that is extremely protective of military and economic power

Yeah theres that old joke about America's only remaining exports being guns and movies. US economic history in general is very interesting, I've been wanting to read "Ages of American Capitalism" for a minute now

And by the way, meat isn't accessible to a large part of the world either and it has devastating effects, but not because it's some essential food.

Not sure if you were aware but as of 10 years ago 82% of starving children lived in countries where food was fed to animals, and the animals were eaten by western countries. But I'm sure muuuuch has changed in the last 10 years or so.
