PlayStation meanwhile has a subscription service where you can play like thousands of dollars of games for $9/month and you can cancel whenever. Y’all making this timeline seem so dark but things are actually relatively affordable when you consider all the options.

Even if you’re buying digital for PlayStation store, you can just not spend any money there, instead take your money to Newegg, Costco, Best Buy and the get the digital currency at a 15-20% discount there. That’s still an option in the digital age.

Cost of a disc drive isn’t the issue . They want more direct digital sales . No used market and drm control .

The reason you’re hearing about so many game studios closing and games being cancelled is because we are in this new golden era where the industry is growing so much and billions is being pumped into it and there are now like a hundreds of big releases every year, it’s just comes with the territory of the big explosion in popularity that gaming has had. Is it sad, yes, but it’s not a sign that gaming is dying. The industry is just really complicated because it’s so massive. A lot of the problems of mismanagement would be solved if more companies could just be fully independent so our only hope to truly see change is the whole industry shifts in that direction. I think it will one day.

I think the issue is we know it’s not expensive to have a disc drive . It’s one thing if you say “ we aren’t printing first party games on disc “ but not even having a disc drive option and considering yourself a console is wild to me . Xbox with gamepass a service that gives so much I get it even if not for me . Owning all your games digital paying full price
