I haven't read this thread really. But I mean it's a terrible thing. It's bad for the price of video games, PSN has no used game sales to compete with so games will stay full price for longer. It's bad for preservation because Sony can just delete games from your library.

Also it's a bad sign for physical movies. If this trend continues they can just discontinue blu-ray production completely. Streaming is already way too expensive and we've seen content just get deleted (West World comes to mind)

We are losing ownership over art we "purchase" and that's a problem

Same as ever with support the game companies you love most . They have gave 2 year or 1 and a half notice . If they really wanted to do us dirty it would be 6 month notice

PS6 sales will be an interesting metric now that it’s gonna be such a “different” generation compared to usual. Digital only, luxury pricing, etc.

Yah but they still make CDs, they still press vinyl. It's more niche but you can buy it. We are looking at a world with 0 physical video games in just two years basically.

Blu-Ray movies won't be far behind because of how large of a role Sony plays in that. Physical movies look significantly better than digital, even ignoring the ownership aspect this hurts the home theater experience
