Yea but doesn't that explain everything? Like these new dudes aren't putting up Uzi numbers cus they just not on the same level

Uzi and Juice never put up big numbers either

Most of their hits all charted between in the 30s-40s outside a select few

Uzi’s biggest album probably ever was EA and that was hugely because of XOTL momentum and all the hype/antics surrounding his hiatus and album issues.

most soundcloud rappers werent even that good its only a few that were great

    exactly bruh

as someone who was in HS during the peak of that wave, there are maybe 12 notable soundcloud rappers that will legitimately be remembered and respected for their music, probably less. the rest are gonna be working regular jobs in a couple years or are doing so right now

Even the worst popping artist from the current SoundCloud wave is 10x better than

    Icy Narco
    Lil Pump
    Smokepurpp
    Lil Skies
    Russ
    Lil Xan
    6ix9ine
    Kid Buu
    YBN Nahmir

but they aint outselling them tho

Yea the more I think about it I can think of like 10 songs from underground artists that are on the same level as xo tour life and they're not pushing millions of streams

Perhaps the marketing of the industry has changed and these new guys aren't being pushed the same, or maybe people aren't engaging with music as much anymore, maybe we r using the wrong metrics to quantify popularity

put me on to those songs cause xo tour life is an amazing song

yes and where are the notable tiktok rappers? there's none that are touching the best of the souncloud wave except maybe Yeat

I mean let's be real 30s-40s on the charts is blowing every new act besides yeat out the water

This is why #s don’t matter cuz Yeat has a handful of songs that a bunch of that demographic would know, similar to that handful of hits juice and x had while alive

I only brought up #s cuz this site acts like anything not in the Top 10-20 is trash when a lot of the mentioned hits didn’t even chart high. Why billboard doesn’t tell the full story when it comes to this cuz GBGR sold what, 50-60k I think but half the songs on their are “hits” and only Lucid Dreams really charted high

there's a few I could think of tbh

Jack Harlow, 24KGoldn,Slump6s, BKTheRula NLE Choppa, Babysantana, SoFaygo, Kentheman, Megan Thee Stallion, ssgkobe, Kaash Paige (not rly a rapper but still)
but the fact that lots of them are making progress in the industry based on their music and not the spectacle of them being d*** addicts or wannabe shooters or domestic abusers (lots of love for XXX and his music but lets be real), make this era miles better than the sc days because their careers will have Longevity. majority of the sc rappers fell off before their 2nd album.

The way music is consumed and discussed and viewed as a whole has changed more in the last 8 years than ever before and people on KTT will never understand that when they wonder why these new artists “just aren’t like they used to be”

And its not for better or worse, its just different. How it relates to you is entirely subjective and the result of your own experiences and you can cry about it by yourself instead of pretending like these artists aren’t creative in their own ways.

    NO STYLIST OUT NOW

Yeah this might be the best answer right now @choppaflex + it’s too early to tell maybe without letting our nostalgia/past eras hold too much bias

Also comparing SoundCloud to TikTok is stupid

Entirely different platforms for entirely different purposes

You could much more effectively compare “vine rappers” to “TikTok rappers” and even then you’d realize its stupid because both would be a list of whatever was popping at the time

Yes but that's not really OPs point

We are talking about popularity and relevancy not music quality
