i think its so crazy cus we got really solid raimi movies off rip and these still are kinda ehhh? even if really fun!!! just as movies not that compelling. but maybe that just makes the earlier ones that much more special

Its just run through mcu machine. Alot of the mcu spiderman movies gotta have a checklist. To me, it doesnt seem like they're as focused on making a great movie as they are invested in a long term story along the mcu arc. There's no damn way Kevin feige thinks this was the best attempt they couldve done for a spiderman film. Instead, he knows its another Spiderman adventure pushing things along. The mcu isnt about a "Spiderman 2" or "the dark knight" type of pieces but rather the collective franchises stretched across the canvas.

Imo thats why we havent gotten that 10/10 but weve still gotten some good Spiderman movies.

but what good is it if people stop caring about the general arc and end "goal" because the movies f***ing suck at worst and are ok or fun at best

i still think they can make great movies that fit in the broader arc. all this money and time for what?

raimi was a film student making Evil Dead with nothing and some friends in the woods. he spent over 20 years working on his craft and making very good work at the same time. that type of filmmaker only comes around once in a while

u look at Watts and his work before his trilogy and yea no s*** is what it is.

now, with DDC i haven’t seen any of his work before so i really have no point of reference. but he seems to know what he wants to do. and he seems to know that the fans want

don’t wanna s*** on watts but it’s kinda hard not to after seeing his bum ass comments about not using practical fx

we are genuinely so spoiled to have had a filmmaker as good as Raimi make a trilogy about his favorite superhero. when will something like that happen again?

You're kind of seeing it (outside of spiderman hype because its f***ing spiderman) the state of the mcu is f***ing garbage now. Ive never seen more people over it than the doomsday s***. My theater groaned when the trailer dropped. Itll pick up numbers. Hell I'll see it and i could care less. Just in case it surprises me.

But people have been over this s*** for a minute. We all tuned in because spiderman is about as iconic as it gets. Some people loved this movie, I thought it was good but flawed.

I feel like Brand New Day should have been Spiderman 5.
Because the last time we saw him he is with Ned and MJ and the end of this film he's back with them. Ofc there is 5 years between the films but as an audience member there is barely any time.

The sense of loneliness is only prevalent for like an hour and then after that it's back to normal.

Spiderman 4 should have been a true Solo Spiderman film where he has a crazy main villian and then we do BND where he chooses ot rekindle etc

He should’ve been lonely the whole new trilogy until the last movie

  • Damage Control really been antagonists in like 6 different MCU projects now

I think we’ll see Metzger again when the mutant stories ramp up

i like that they didn’t immediately give MJ and ned back to him. i think there’s still very much an element of loneliness at the end of the movie, he’s just starting to climb out of it

i have a feeling if Watts were doing this we would’ve had some “friendship fixes the spell” bs by the start of the third act

I rocked with Homecoming and NWH but Webb should’ve never been in charge of a Spidey movie

    Especially not a trilogy
