Don’t really think May influenced him to make the choice. He wanted to send them back and even argued with May on it until he learned they were gonna be sent back to die. May of course would support his decision to help them instead of letting them die since she raised him with those morals. And it eventually backfired because he had to learn responsibility and the burden of being Spider-Man. If May wasn’t there to be the catalyst I don’t think Peter would’ve matured the way he did by the end of the movie. also think it’s why her speech to Peter when she dies is important so he knows it isn’t wrong to try to do the right thing, no matter how easy it is to just let them die.
