CRACKASTEPPAVEGANThis did not need to be 2 and a 1/2 hours bruh. Could've been just one film with part 2. It was pretty good, animation was solid (the ADD-ass intro made me nauseous tho.), But the first half of the movie just felt like padding with repeated story beats, and how did Gwen's dad get so convinced that it was Spider girl when a lot of people saw the lizard crashing at the spot? Shaky motivation, didn't make sense.
Animation was on point, movie has some funny moments, Hobi was dope, and so was the Indian spider man, Uncle Aaron was cool as ice like always, made me wanna watch the first one again, but this movie did not justify its runtime at all, and the first one was better, in terms of pacing and writing.

agreed... movie dragged hard at some points, and ended pretty weak.
this was a step down from the first for me, tbh. a contained story is always better than massive universe bullshit.

When it comes to the Spider Society especially the film loves tiptoeing the line of doing too much to the point where it could come off silly and unserious and I can also see to some people having that many random funny and jokey spider people might take away from the mythos of the character
And I know mfs would just defend saying “it’s a multiverse movie dumbass” but everyone’s got a limit and I think this movie loves to test that lol, doesn’t bother me personally of course but I see it

while its the middle of the night and I can get hot takes off. The cameos are cool in one sense but the over saturation of cameos many of which act out of character or who have no character to them at all feels purposeless. Like they are literally just there to wink at the camera. But are bringing none of the knowledge or character we have seen them develop or destroy in their respective universes.
They could have all been mindless henchmen and it would have been about the same. When with this plot and idea they could have said a lot more. The majority of the plot feels drawn the f*** out with padding. Gwen mildly carries the movie with her emotional moments being more impactful than miles. Miles is closer to peter parker than his dad even though yes I know its supposed to mirror and they need each other but s\*\*\* was a little much for me.
Multiverse cameo movies are doing a lot. I kind of wish I saw this in theaters perhaps then i would understand the hype of it more. But no part of me is in a rush to see the next movie after this. Will definitely see it obviously but . the highs in this don't match the lows. I thought the first movie was good. Not coming of christ but good. So when people were acting like this was exponentially better I was confused. Different taste though of course

I been a die hard spiderman fan since I was 7. The first one had some fun moments don't get me wrong but Miles only so interesting with how they are using him. I say that as someone who is a black man who always wanted a young black spiderman. 1st movie Peter Parker training I was like okay was at least glad they didn't push Gwen love interest. this one is
1. Gwen love interest and have to tell her story
2. multiverse convoluted ass plot for basic message
3. "twist" ending as if its really a twist
4. Lightly his connection to his family but a greater connection to Peter ParkerIt all kind of leaves something to be desired for me personally. Soundtrack dope, visuals and animation dope. But some of the soul felt missing for me. I am going to give it another rewatch though . It had some moments but ehhhhh

Spider society is united by " we need to sacrifice a family member for this power" with less people questioning if the great power is worth the sacrificing . Never pausing to be like "we can't save humanity we aren't all knowing". There are just many interesting ways and an interesting rebellion that could be had if there were more spider men who questioned than like 5 or 6 which doesn't even logically make sense

the fact that its going to be an entire trilogy of pushing multiverse this hard is so sad because miles deserves one intimate movie
