Spiderverse from an immediate story perspective is very basic while Mad God is a lot more cryptic

Again I'm not saying it's not up there, but there's a tendency make it out to be untouchable when the 3 previous Miyazaki movies are probably better. Miyazaki is also a top tier director granted.

On one you're saying mid story like Mugen Train is a better film than Spiderverse, on the other you're insisting Mad God is great because of how abstract the story is? Come on.

Mugen train was a more emotional watch and way more exciting and intense

Mad God is a lot more detailed and interested with its worldbuilding and far more nuanced

I can appreciate art for doing different things

Spiderverse has a very generic story, mostly boring fights, and mostly unlikeable characters. The animation is pretty and some humor was funny amidst the thousand corny one liners but that’s about it

I can't comment on Mad God because I haven't watched it, but generic is literally everything bare the animation for Mugen Train. Rengoku and maybe Akaza who pretty much only has a cameo role are the only likeable characters in the entire movie. The last 10 minutes carry Mugen Train really, everything else is meh.
