thx for doing the research, just watched the whole interview

and.... I'm taking this with a big grain of salt..... like honestly Mikey seems a bit full of himself and hating for petty reasons.

Also with Spike he literally doesn't say s***, only that already going in he wasn't a fan. Talking about how Video Days had black girls in bikinis is problematic? (I mean he sort of got a point, but that's a revisionist f***ing reading and weird reason to dismiss the whole thing lol.) Then he goes "So I watch his movie, Being John Malkovich... I grew up watching the f***ing Godfather, so I'm a tough critic... So I'm watching Being John Malkovich, and it doesn't affect me, doesn't move me" wow

I think he's just mad Jonah didn't use Mid90s to promote the Illegal Civ brand. Plus this even feels like planned controversy to promote his own skate film. To make people go like "whoa, that was all fake, I need to see the real thing". I mean I didn't think Mid90s was a flawless thing and maybe his project really is more real, but that's in bad taste imo.

In general, talking s*** in public in like your first big interview about legends in your field who gave you amazing opportunities... not a good look.

watching the mikey interview and 5 mins in, he's s***ting on some 11 year old kid who loved godard and fellini?!
11 year old mikey was shook this kid made a non-linear and non-structured movie lmfaoo

mans got Miranda Cosgrove and Vince Vaughn tho lol I def will give this a try - it feels wrong to me tho that it's again a white lead... like isn't like everyone in Illegal Civ Black or mixed? That feels like a huge compromise

is every illegal civ movie gonna be a coming of age skater movie with a white lead

    mayday

I had a chance to see him front row at Wayhome in Summer 2017. He was practically 10 feet away. It was surreal and magical. He was very talkative and friendly. The entire show had a super warm feeling and felt extremely raw.

I shared some of these stories years ago but for anyone new, here's some little trivia from that performance:

    • The crowd was incredibly hyped and kept on chanting "Pyramids, Pyramids!" throughout the show. Frank sensed the energy so he replaced "Wither" and starting debating on what song to play next. The crowd started shouting again which made him smile. We knew we weren't getting it because he hadn't played it all tour. He walked over to his band, specifically Buddy Ross and said "Y'all remember this one?". A couple moments later, he began playing "Forrest Gump" - first time in 3 years - and everyone was thrilled. Following "Pink + White", there were some beautiful strings that warped into the electronics of "Pyramids" and I've never seen a crowd erupt like that. It had an absolutely gorgeous light show emitting from the light tower, felt like a German night club atmosphere between thousands of people. Following this show, the track was played at all of the remaining festivals. By the last couple of shows, "Pyramids" had a live bass being played by Ben Reed.

    • During "Forrest Gump", cinematographer Mikey Alfred noticed a same s***couple kissing and he projected it onto the screen resulting in a huge reception from the crowd and a nod from Frank.

    • Vegyn projected a couple of messages on the laptop during "Futura Free" and got a huge rise from the crowd. You could see the fireworks video that they used to capture the Blonded 007 artwork in real time behind the notepad.

His performance at Flow Festival in Finland & Way Out West in Sweden featured an orchestra and tracks like "Self Control" and "Ivy" propelled to new level with the instrumentation. I have the entire "Flow" set, I'll see if I can upload it for you all some time down the line. Even that deep into the tour, he said he was nervous and was still getting used to it. Quite an interesting thing to note.

As far as the visuals - I do think we'll see them one day.

yo thx for sharing all those details. And pls hmu with the Flow set if you can! Do u have twitter?
