  • Kanye’s best work since Yeezus (not counting KSG). I told you guys I hated JIK not just because it was a “gospel” album, but because the lyrics were s*** and the songs just weren’t that good. DONDA proves my point exactly. Kanye took a backseat on many of the songs and did what he does best: arranging a perfect album. That’s why MBDTF is so good, he let each artist do what they do best. I’m no Playboi Carti fan but Off the Grid is some of the hardest s*** I’ve ever heard in my life. And the mid-song transition to the drill beat is so perfect. This dude got Jay-Z on the album after years of being at odds. And the Jay lyric about red hats made me feel warm inside knowing Kanye isn’t a complete nutjob. Dude put Cudi on Moon, a song that was already goated and made it double goated. Dude got The Weeknd on Hurricane and you guys are complaining? If anything this is the best version of the song that’s been made so far. The only complaint I have from the listening party is that I’m not sure I loved the order of the track list at the time but it’s already changed since then so we’ll have to wait and see. And I would still like to hear that full version of that song (Glory?) with Snoop and produced by Dre from the Beats commercial.

Side note: I’m getting sick of the threads about the 15 different ways you guys want Hurricane to be made. With Wolves it was different because we didn’t have the leaked version at the time of TLOP’s original release which is why everyone was pissed, but we have like 8 different versions of the leaked song. You can always go and listen to other versions of the song. I prefer the version of Fade without the hi-hats so that’s the version I listen to

Good vibes my people, some of you TLOP stans are coming of age at the time of Kanye releasing a near-MBDTF level album. If that takes another few days or weeks, let the man perfect it and let us feast. This isn’t some Drake album that you’re gonna play for a few weeks and take out of rotation, this s*** will have songs that will be in rotation for years. WTT turned 10 the other day and I still have at least half that album in regular rotation. Otis will literally never get old, that song is perfect.

good take on the demo itis.

i also bump a version of fade that had the baseline slap way more than the final version.

Just play your favourite and im sure an edit will come up where a user creates your favourite type anyway.

Not listened to the album yet myself... tempted to at least stream ATL2 tho

That’s probably the same version of Fade I listen to. It was released for about 2 months on the official album from April 2016 - June 2016 then it was reverted back to the original release version. The bass wasn’t quite as loud as the leaked version but it was a better mix

ATL2 is worth the listen tbh

Donda is way less focused on being a Christian album than Jesus is King was, it's in the title

    But otherwise I agree

Good post. I always knew Kanye wasn’t “lost” with the Trump stuff, but in this cancel culture it makes sense why people couldn’t align at all with him or weren’t willing to let it breathe as just something Kanye believed in at the time.

    Goddam I love this lyric.

Told him, "Stop all of that red cap, we goin' home" .. Not me with all of these sins, casting stones

Been s***ting on Chris Brown since day 1 and people are finally agreeing with me after his dogs attacked that woman. Could've found a much better singer than Chris Brown for that song. Imagine Frank, Charlie Wilson, or The Weeknd to sing Waves instead. Would've been infinitely better than Chris Brown regardless of how s***ty of a human he is.

    Where do you disagree?

I don’t feel like Kanye’s rapping well at all on this. I wanted more personal verses in the vein of Lord I Need You.
Some songs sound super generic too like I’m Not Okay.
