I don’t feel like Kanye’s rapping well at all on this. I wanted more personal verses in the vein of Lord I Need You.
Some songs sound super generic too like I’m Not Okay.
There is one song I found to be mid but only one, I gotta go back and listen and figure out which one that was. His rapping compared to ye and JIK is improved, luckily he did allow other people to do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to the lyrics and he stuck with singing (best he's sounded without autotune on any album singing-wise btw) for the most part
Edit: The mid songs are New Again, Pure Souls, and Keep My Spirit Alive. I can do without that chunk of the album, it's not adding anything to the album for the most part.
Man I love Donda but this ain‘t touching KSG & TLOP (so far - it has the potential tho)
KSG is incredible but I really refuse to compare a 20 minute EP to something like this

it will when all is said and done

Kanye’s best work since Yeezus (not counting KSG). I told you guys I hated JIK not just because it was a “gospel” album, but because the lyrics were s*** and the songs just weren’t that good. DONDA proves my point exactly. Kanye took a backseat on many of the songs and did what he does best: arranging a perfect album. That’s why MBDTF is so good, he let each artist do what they do best. I’m no Playboi Carti fan but Off the Grid is some of the hardest s*** I’ve ever heard in my life. And the mid-song transition to the drill beat is so perfect. This dude got Jay-Z on the album after years of being at odds. And the Jay lyric about red hats made me feel warm inside knowing Kanye isn’t a complete nutjob. Dude put Cudi on Moon, a song that was already goated and made it double goated. Dude got The Weeknd on Hurricane and you guys are complaining? If anything this is the best version of the song that’s been made so far. The only complaint I have from the listening party is that I’m not sure I loved the order of the track list at the time but it’s already changed since then so we’ll have to wait and see. And I would still like to hear that full version of that song (Glory?) with Snoop and produced by Dre from the Beats commercial.
Side note: I’m getting sick of the threads about the 15 different ways you guys want Hurricane to be made. With Wolves it was different because we didn’t have the leaked version at the time of TLOP’s original release which is why everyone was pissed, but we have like 8 different versions of the leaked song. You can always go and listen to other versions of the song. I prefer the version of Fade without the hi-hats so that’s the version I listen to
Good vibes my people, some of you TLOP stans are coming of age at the time of Kanye releasing a near-MBDTF level album. If that takes another few days or weeks, let the man perfect it and let us feast. This isn’t some Drake album that you’re gonna play for a few weeks and take out of rotation, this s*** will have songs that will be in rotation for years. WTT turned 10 the other day and I still have at least half that album in regular rotation. Otis will literally never get old, that song is perfect.
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOMIEEEEE
I like Heaven & Hell
I wish I never knew that was a Frank Dukes sample pack loop though
Remote, Jail, Praise God, Jesus Lord I also enjoy a lot
A few others
Jik sucks but at least it gave us follow god
I’ll give you that, Follow God is still in rotation

Super facts Spooky Ghost
Spooky you are so real and I’m glad to see you comment on the album and to see you back. Agreed on all fronts

This honestly got me more hyped for the album. lol
