I completely agree on water however I would give it a 3/10 just because of that verse. Kills it.
Album is definitely a grower. I absolutely hated it at first, now I really really like it
I listen to it AT LEAST once a day
Definitely could have been better with different lyrics as you said
Use this Gospel as it was when it was Laws of Attraction could have been a top 5 Ye song
I agree with this
Damn its crazy you dont like God Is and would remove it. I honestly believe thats the best song on the album along with Law of Attraction. God Is feels like the centerpiece of the album since we get Kanye at his most honest on how Christ makes him feel and why he feels the need to spread the same message to everyone. Production on the song is gorgeous especially the last part. Sounds just as good as anything on his classic albums. I can understand why some may not like his raspy voice but for me it really adds emotion. You can really hear the joy and serenity in his voice when hes singing his last few lines and I cant help but to be happy that after everything Kanye has been through, he has finally found peace.
Only song on the album that gets me close to tears
If he removed Everything We Need and God Is, it would've been so much better.
This is what happens when a Yeezus stan reviews JIK.
Nothing too negative about TLOP in this post to be fair tho
true, it just had to be said
The weakest part of the album is Kanye unfortunately.
I enjoy this album, but I'm already back to bumping his old s*** lol.
These past three solo's really haven't done it for me. Yeezus is the last real Kanye album we got (even though I don't really care for it as much as his first 5 records)
It sucks man. I truly haven't been blown away from this man in nearly a decade.
KSG's the best s*** that has been released under his name, but I don't count it since it's a joint effort with Cudi.
If he does plan to release another record (Which at this point, I hope he doesn't) I reeeeaaaalllyy hope he takes his time with it.
Only Kanye could force an atheist to listen to an Album titled Jesus is King, glorifying the Son of God, knowing that everything about the theme, lyrics and intention is something he has an aversion to. I-
Imagine having Follow God as the best track on the album
Imagine not
It’s the most classic Kanye track on there and his rapping is the best it’s been in years
Agree word for word on this review with the exception of me putting Everything we Need and Selah a tad bit higher in score.
The "hallelujah" part goes on way too long and doesn't build up to anything too great. The "He is wonderful" part at the end of the hallelujah part is amazing though
"It doesn't build up to anything too great, but what it builds up to is amazing"
???
Could've been one of his best songs ever but got ruined by the Jesus trash.
Jesus Is King is the ninth studio album by American rapper Kanye West, released on October 25, 2019, through GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings. The album follows a Christian theme, with West describing it as "an expression of the gospel." West had formed his Sunday Service group in January 2019, performing gospel songs and covers of songs from his discography. Sunday Service performed the songs "Water" and "Everything We Need" live prior to release. The album features guest appearances from Clipse, Ty Dolla Sign, Kenny G, Fred Hammond, Ant Clemons, and Sunday Service. The album features production from West, Benny Blanco, E*vax, Finatik N Zac, Francis Starlite, Labrinth, Mike Dean, Pi'erre Bourne, Ronny J, Timbaland, and Warryn Campbell, among others.
True freedom is achieved through being influenced only by what you want
Have you considered that maybe Kanye wants to be a Christian and isn't being forced by someone else?
You're saying "Jesus Christ did the laundry", "what if Eve made apple juice" and "closed on sunday you're my chic-fil-a" aren't corny lyrics?
"Jesus christ did the laundry" is a great line and way better than "my cousin's mad at my auntie". Chic fil a line is hit or miss, I like it but I can see where youre coming from, it's the same as swaghili line, you either feel it or not. Apple juice bar is just bad lol I'll give you that.
Pretty good review tho

God Is production sounds like DIAND if it was about God
On God out now
He does not rap better on On God than Follow God and that’s literal facts

Real
what a cancer review
Classic Pablo stan opinion. Can’t see a single flaw in something while differentiating the great parts. Thinks something can only be amazing or s*** without any in between

his flow is a little better on Follow God but the bars are literally so much better in On God
"I bleached my hair for every time I could've died, but I survived, that's on God"
"And all my brothers locked up on the yard, you can still be anything you wanna be, went from one in four to one in three"
"Before the ranch, I had horses in the garage, when the Forbes cover was just a mirage"
No other song on the album stands out lyrically like that for me. And that beat sounds like some wtt/graduation type s***

Lyrically maybe, but flow and rhyme scheme on Follow God is far superior
