People can't be thinking apple, one of the largest companies in the world, isn't working on their own ai for this little arms race they're doing. & the extractions of the 3rd world nations are part of that. We're talking about the same company that made headphone jacks obsolete & had major sway in modern music history with the exclusive deal. I'm supposed to think now apple music isn't above foul play when it comes to the algorithm now?

yeah I think the big difference between apple and spotify as companies is that while apple does evil s***, their company's bottom line is not driven by their music service being profitable, and spotify's is because they don't do anything else, so spotify is more likely to engage in dubious s*** to saw down their margins in MUSIC-SPECIFIC areas

so both of y'all are right, you're right that apple absolutely is doing some sinister s*** in the world to boost their bottom line, but their music product isn't doing that as much as spotify's music product is. because they don't need it to—it's not their money maker

apple music is about 6-7% of apple's revenue so it's definitely not an insignificant amount but it's not driving company decisions like, "let's hire musicians to make algorithm music to lower our royalty rates" so from a consumer perspective the apple product is probably going to be more consumer-friendly. but on a grand scale all these companies are evil as f***
