I would be pissed.
Spotify is offering a massive opportunity for independent podcast creature to meantime their work. One that is not offered to indie artists.
Podcasters have a direct relationship with fans than artists.
The biggest label giants in the industry are invested in Spotify, ofc they wouldn't do this for artists.
It's crazy how these platforms devalue the actual art and can't give artists proper revenue and a***ytics.
spotify really ruined the podcast game. to the point where I use Apple Music but have to have spotify just to listen to certain podcasts cause they got so much exclusivity.

There's no way podcasts are this profitable. Look at music revenue for big 3 labels instagram.com/p/CSunzeiMvFQ/?utm_medium=copy_link

Podcasts are very profitable lol where you been the last 5 years
Joe Budden really dropped the ball on a really good opportunity for himself.
joe does that

Yes, like 5 podcasts. The music industry brought in 17 billion last year. Podcasts have not brought in that much. It's still a new medium with a select few making money at the top.
joe does that
These probably his ideas. Remember he said they wouldn't share the data.

They are, maybe not as big as the music industry but the podcast industry is hot atm.
What I meant is that these perks will give artists, signed or unsigned more leyway to make profit without label interference and for labels that would be bad for business.
Spotify has to give them perks. Patreon and Stitcher and Wondery and Earl Wolf and whoever else exist. They don't control that market unlike with music.

You acting like most of that money isnt coming from mainly a select few of artists either lol.
Podcasts has much more new territory, current market real estate that is able to bought up & is only becoming bigger and bigger.
It makes perfect sense why an audio company would be investing heavily into it.
Its free reign without a lot of space taken up yet (unlike music) & its popularity growth is booming with big gains every year.
Not to mention it is at its current form a safer & more accessible bet.
Im willing to bet an indie podcast is making more money than an indie act on average too
inb4 artists start dropping their music in podcasts

Dude, I'm not saying it isn't a massive opportunity. It's a new medium so there's tons of money to be made. I get why they are investing in it. I'm just saying this sucks for independent artists who want the same things but continue to struggle.
Spotify has also overpaid for podcasts that aren't delivering. In reality this is a long-term play for them.

That's the issue.
