I liked season 3
1>3>>>2
Y'all complain about the ending but that's the whole point. Rich people always win it don't matter how hard people try to change things.

dude died for no reason; he could have literally lived and still provide for his daughter with the money
Reality show back November 3rd
The reality show >>> the actual show
I kind of feel like this show does what Black Mirror does, but to a lesser extend: put the most focus on the overall concept (for this show the concept of the games and the psychological component and for Black Mirror it’s the concept of whatever technological thing the episode is about and how it affects society)
The plot of this show had brutally bad payoff, which is where Black Mirror has the advantage of having it be an anthology series, so you move on episode to episode and there’s no need for a plot. But I just felt like they were trying so desperately to hit you in the face with a “there’s nothing you can do to stop capitalism, it always wins” thing. And I get it, but also it gets really old when you just constantly loop that message at the end of each season lmao.
And it looks like it’s a pretty popular opinion here and everyone else, but I’ll just say it too — the stereotypical and The-Room-level-corny American VIPs were vomit inducing.
Like I’m not at all some patriotic, America is the best person, but that was borderline offensive tbh lmao
And was yet another thing that is lunacy about how garbage they were at writing the plot not gonna get super into it, but how they had the characters treat the baby was also horrible plot writing
A bit of a long rant incoming but I feel it’s needed.
From the second episode when they had the baby in the show it creates bad, unrealistic writing and ultimately ruins what they built up from the beginning.
To start with, player 222 having the baby in 4 minutes. It’s lazy writing to create drama for something which is essentially impossible to happen. I understand the show itself is unrealistic but at least they stayed within the realms of possibility from a human can and can’t do (for example, they didn’t allow a player to have a super jumping ability to go over jump rope, they understand people have limitations).
How it could’ve easily been fixed and made for a better show - still have the same people tie (transgender person and the son) because those things can still carry out the same. I’m sure the mother wouldn’t have allowed him to kill 222 as she was pregnant and that was a no go regardless.
222 and the mother both go through the exit doors and the episode ends with her THEN going into labour. The next episode is all about trying to deliver the baby, what other team members do/act to see this happening and it even allows Gi-Hung to snap out of his sulk because he can see the bigger picture and tries to help.
The mother can still go for the suicide part of the storyline AFTER she’s delivered the baby because it’s the exact same situation.
The rest of the show can work as normal from episode 3 onwards with a much more realistic situation.
———
Now the next problem, the end game where Gi-Hung sacrifices himself for the baby. Two major issues with this:
1. The main issue - he has no idea what will happen to the baby after he dies. The baby could win and the VIPs say they’re not giving there money to a baby and get rid of it. The boss of the show can take the baby and kill it/give to adoption/sell it. The list is endless for the negative things they can do to this baby.
Gi-Hung is essentially hoping someone does the right thing for this baby and even though he doesn’t know this, seeing as they had to evacuate the building they could’ve left the baby there to die regardless. IT JUST ISNT SMART.
2. HE HAS A DAUGHTER AT HOME. I understand he was a dead beat dad and focussed his years after the first game to try and stop them but still, his own daughter has got to be worth more to see him than him sacrificing himself.
———-
Logically and the unfortunately the correct answer was to either sacrifice the baby or allow both to be killed at the end of it, there are too many variables to leave the baby in that situation to hope the best outcome happens (and obviously for the show they do the best outcome).
I’m sorry for the long rant but after seeing the show it’s been playing on my mind 😂
