    Which one, though? Or both?

Was talking about DBDTP. Both are amazing, but something about that one was something special.

That was a bad year all around for music, one of the ones people complain about the most.

2021 is sort of getting better, but there's way more mid than quality. Plus the underground sound of rap is kind of wack at the moment.

you don't fucc with stuff like Mach Hommy/Ka/Armand Hammer? They been dropping nice projects. Griselda too. A lot of fire in underground

    FREE that man

But yeah, the stan wars are crazy. Wondering if this site compares to Twitter in the regard? Probably not. But there has for sure been some humorous exchanges over nothing significant between users.

Fam when you were MIA users were trashtalkin about charts, having fantano living in their head, harassin other stans to claim supremacy and I entered in with a mix of joy and sorrow because how bizarre it was.
I don't have twitter so I don't know what was there but here... a pause from the site is only reinvigorating.

2018 gets complained about the most cause that’s the year when all the big names dropped and most of them ended up being a disappointed, basically the s***ty version of 2008

I hope 2021 gets better down the line, I mean we got Kendrick, Lupe, and Danny to still look forward to so I hope they’ll deliver. Otherwise imma lose hope in mainstream rap

To be honest, I haven't really been in touch with that scene of the underground. Those guys are cool though. Armand Hammer is one of the artists I've checked out and he dropped some heat with Alchemist. Mach-Hommy and KA I haven't really dove into their discogs, but some of the stuff people have posted to me haven't been good examples of their music (most likely).

Griselda is fire though, no doubt about that.

When I said the Underground I was basically talking about this new generation of dudes who ripping of Yung Lean and Keef's shtick from 2015; like that d***ged up actual mumbling on the mic.

I think you've been in threads where someone will say "this is the future" and it just turns out to be another Keef 'Nobody' rip off song.

The underground is still fire and always will be since that's such a large generalization/group of artists, but the more popular styles in it lately have been pretty garbage, honestly.

To be honest, that was probably the lowest this site has ever been (from what you've described).

Wasn't there to witness it, and honestly kind of glad. Saw alot of bullshit when logging back in for the first time, and frankly just been ignoring it/haven't discussed it. Might have to shed some light on the situation later in MISC.

That's true though, when s*** becomes a war best thing to do is to dip out.

Man, absolutely. It's actually kind of weird because to me the stuff from 2011-2016 has aged tremendously better from the stuff (kind of around) 2016-2020.
I'll find myself going back to a Pusha album released in 2014, but not Scorpion which was released in 2018.

yall hate on scorpion but still play it and hear it in the clubs. it outsold pusha album from this year sales alone

  • Sep 14, 2021

After seeing the whole donda clb debacle i dont wanna see ppl making it out to be a female only issue anymore w the stan s***

One can always use the “acclaim argument” as well, though; in that regard, Pusha-T wins; and so forth…

Nah lmao it's not the lowest tbh and you shouldn't take this too serious either. It's roughly the same as it was in 2018 amidst Push-Drake-Ye thing. Not even gonna lie, it's fun to participate in those stan wars from time to time but of course it sucks when it's all over the site and you can't have s*** without getting into another Drake vs Ye debate. But it's still just a regular thing to happen tbh.

They choose to dedicate their time and money to cultural figures that give them nothing in return materially so that they can accumulate cultural capital for their own little heads

It’s because of people in this country being raised with the expectation to have this big identity, but when you’re stuck in America or other places exposed to the American lifestyle of endless work and consumption, where you have to work before you live, it’s easier to just attach yourself to a celebrity and live vicariously through them than to remove yourself from making money to be a real person

When the standard 9-5 life often doesn't give you much of a sense of meaning or satisfaction, I guess it makes sense people find it in the successes of others. Rather sad
