to be fair never said you did.
I’m just branching off from your earlier comment.
Sorry if it felt like i was inferring you do.
I’m only speaking from the general cultural impact this movie had on the toxicity of the SW fan base when this movie came out.

this is facts. s*** is super childish.
I HATE TROS and only watched that s*** once. Never again.
Crazy how TROS really the new blueprint. JJ really the successor to George
That’s wild lmao
That’s wild lmao
I'm not trolling either. I don't wanna act like I'm special or anything but I've had some wild but genuine SW takes in the past and I know we've talked about it before so hopefully maybe you remember.
I've been reading soooooo much during quarantine about the making of Star Wars/ESB/ROTJ and basically trying to find every Lucas interview I could find because the making of these films to me is almost as interesting as the actual films. TROS, more so than every other Star Wars movie that came after ROTJ is the closest we've ever gotten to replicating the OT from a filmmaking standpoint. TROS is exactly what George wanted and did make the OT, just adjusted for modern times. He wanted each film to feel faster, too fast even, and for detractors of the films back then, that was a prominent gripe they had for them, but in 2020 they're not fast at all, they're even slow at times. The pacing of the film used to be my least favorite part, now I think there's a stroke of genius to it and it might be the blueprint for blockbusters going forward.

I’m glad you enjoyed the film, it’s a interesting way of looking at the pacing of the film but i genuinely believe that SW probably wouldn’t have the monumental hit that it was if it weren’t for the people who slowed Lucas down and actually crafted a well paced story like A New Hope and that cemented the precedent that the Franchise films should have followed to keep its quality.
The pacing of some of the prequel films and TROS especially is just too much for me personally.
Wow the pacing is so fast who cares about the story.
also this. the film is a huge whip lash and it fees like it doesn’t know what it wants to be really.

But that's the thing, nobody did slow Lucas down. I was reading in an interview where he said he made each of the OT films faster than the previous one and he brought each one to the brink of how fast it could be. He wanted it to be too much. Looking at ANH with 2020 eyes is wildly different than looking at it with 1977 eyes. In 1977 a lot of people, especially those who were older thought the movie was a joke, just a lot of booms and bangs with no meaningful or legible story to accompany it. It was what many people view modern blockbusters to be (and not the good ones). The film has aged well but that's only because it became the biggest thing ever and the entire industry was forced to adapt and catch up.

could you provide evidence that this was really the case? Because i specifically remember many audience members being mind blown when Star Wars was first released in the theaters and really the only people talking s*** was some of the cast and crew WHILE filming it.

"There’s no breather in the picture. ... It’s enjoyable on its own terms, but it’s exhausting, too: like taking a pack of kids to the circus."
"The story of "Star Wars" could be written on the head of a pin and still leave room for the Bible. It is, rather, a breathless succession of escapes, pursuits, dangerous missions, unexpected encounters, with each one ending in some kind of defeat until the final one."
Strip 'Star Wars' of its often striking images and its highfalutin scientific jargon, and you get a story, characters, and dialogue of overwhelming banality, without even a "future" cast to them. Human beings, anthropoids, or robots, you could probably find them all, more or less like, that, in downtown Los Angeles today... O dull new world! - New York Magazine
“Star Wars” is somewhat grounded by a malfunctioning script and hopelessly infantile dialogue… Surrounded by these fascinating creatures, the actors barely hold their own. To be sure, Mark Hamill has a bland-faced innocence as Skywalker, and Carrie Fisher is comically plucky as the distressed Princess Leia, but Harrison Ford hams it up terribly as Han Solo, a cynical space pirate who has “flown from one side of this galaxy to another and seen a lot of stuff.”
(this is less about the pace and story but does basically say that the only interesting thing about the film are the creatures)
And this is just from NY publications, I'm sure there are more examples out there, New York couldn't have been the only place where people didn't like the film, they're just the easiest to find because well... it's New York and not North Dakota.
Btw, here's the quote from Lucas on the pace of the OT:
“Each movie moves a little bit faster. Each one has been taken to the brink; it’s as fast as you can make it and still be able to tell a comprehensible story. Jedi is almost incomprehensible in certain areas. ... It’s natural to the way I feel about things. I’ve always been extremely interested in the cinematic side of motion pictures, and one of the key elements of cinema is editorial pace, just storytelling pace. I have constantly been experimenting with trying to get the story told as quickly as possible while adding in as many entertainment values as one can possibly have, to express an idea as swiftly as possible. It’s a form of minimalism.”

🤢🤮
Only thing embarrassing is you itt caping for that garbage movie. Goofy said it’s his canon finale FOH with that trash
TROS was fast but the story choices meant that overall it just wasn't a good film, it being fast then means absolutely nothing lol
