that shipbuilding / interior exploration / crew hiring
and planetary / space exploration has me FOCKKKKKIN SOLD
I was really excited for this but man Idk anymore. This looks kinda terrible I can’t lie
Need to see some alien thots
The quality of the planets should def matter for a space exploration RPG game man. I mean that should be one of the main things to get right
How would you know how planets are IRL tho .. It’s space. We have seen and experienced and a***yzed a microcosm of it. This entire showcase is so unimaginative and rote, I mean can you even remember a single cool looking planet or thing you saw in this reveal ? Including the main areas of the planets like you’re saying. Where is the creativity and imagination it’s space !!!
I see ppl saying it’s gonna be all about the world building and RPG elements but they showed nothing exciting in that regard at all. I realize it’s a first look and we have to see what else they reveal and how the actual game is, but it’s feels like they showed a lot here mechanically and structure wise. I don’t see it being very different from what we see here
There will probably just be a lot of variety.
700+small planets with a few locations
250+ medium sized planets with longer questlines, bigger enemy bases and more places to explore
30+ large planets with massive cities

Expecting every planet to be of high quality kind of gets thrown out the window once they decided to make 1000+ planets though, I’m fully expecting the main planets that take you through the story and the ones with settlements to be of high quality and the rest to be of varying quality tbh. Elden Ring had like 70 dungeons and even with a number that low compared to 1000 it was pretty clear that creativity was running low for a lot of them

But we didn’t see anything high quality in this reveal is my point. ER’s main allures are not the side dungeons. You’re supposed to entice the imagination with some early game amazing planets and cities without revealing too much so you feel like you wanna play it and explore yourself. This legit looks like Fallout 4 reskinned assets put into slightly altered terrain for every one they showed. That first walkout from the ship segment
Some of this is interesting but they really have to be thorough with it and stick the landing. Locating artifacts that give you visions was like the main story of assassins creed These kind of stories and worlds really need inspired characters and writing to bring them alive. This is something Bethesda has been struggling with for a while I feel like

The side dungeons definitely helped to elevate the game though, on the first play-through the excitement of finding a new dungeon lasted for a very long time. And I feel like the trailer did show some cool looking cities that all looked pretty distinct from one another as well as showcase some cool systems such as base and airship building. Then again, I have never played or intend to play Fallout 4 so maybe a lot of what was shown just looked like a new Fallout to some people so I would understand the disappointment.

To be fair to this game though i don’t expect every game to be Elden Ring level at all. I just think it should be imaginative and thorough in its own right given it’s been in active development almost a decade and is being marketed as this epic next gen triple A experience. I hope they surprise me for sure
just saw the reveal
looks like fallout and mass effect had a baby
yup, need it to be 2023 right now
