That's about exactly how he put it. Lotta people look up to the BPP as heroes, and in many instances they were, but it was many internal conflicts and problems with the leaders that played a big role in the party's demise. It was almost to a point where the FBI/COINTELPRO didn't really even have to do that much towards the end.

You can honor the BPP for what they did, but the downside with trying to be the next Black Panthers is that many of the people with that thinking never look into the leaders who caused the downfall.

My main point. You shouldn't wanna be the next Black Panthers. The true goal should be being MUCH better than the Black Panthers. Correcting where they f***ed up at. Intersectionality, inclusion, giving women a much bigger role, these are the things that should be a focus when trying to create a new black revolutionist/community political party. Not focusing on policing the police and arming niggas. Cause that's just gonna put us right back at square one. A dead party that barely graced a decade.

although armed resistance is important it isn’t my go to. Enriching our communities and creating a strong black and latino economic force is necessary for survival. Eventually with that presence being felt advocating for a third party within the US government is the next step. taking up arms is only needed for guarding protesters from police and guarding black owned businesses.
