jus a lil blood in his eyes i think I think the best thing to take from his paragraph is the "explain what you mean and don't just throw out terms you don't know" part.
a lot of posts in the music sxn are simple variations of "this sucks" or "this sucks more than this", but sometimes there are buzzwords thrown in to make the "this sucks" argument seem more intelligent. those buzzwords being some of the things that cookies sez, like "mixing" and "production". those are categories of things, and to just say "the mix is bad" isn't a great piece of information to offer to a discussion. it can be a starting point. however, i think there's a tendency w/ social media for those simple bite-sized statements to seldom go further than their starting points because just saying "the mix is bad" is much easier for ppl to agree with than explaining why one thinks the mix is bad. the more specific you get with your claim, the fewer people will be able to immediately relate to it; they'll have to put in their own individual effort to understand and then respond accordingly. the likes system also kinda incentivizes this inclination towards simplicity.
i think cookies is frustrated w/ the fact that many people would rather not put in that individual effort on either side. many of his threads seem to have an ethos of "discuss more, say cliched criticisms less", cus most people will just leave arguments at the "this sucks" point, which, as i said earlier, is more of a starting point than an ending one.
why he takes the somewhat-angry tone in approaching these things tho, i dunno it certainly invites some of the meme behavior that is obvious in the 1st page responses (which is kinda an example of what i was talking about earlier), but then again, paragraphs in general will occasionally invite dismissive meme responses rock n a hard place scenario
You’re exactly right. And I’m not sure the time might come off as angry but it’s just frustration and bluntness. If they feel the need to get offended because of how I say something so be it. I’m not an angry person at all. But I do get annoyed that the same people always complaining about “the state of music section” do s*** all about it but complain and then say the dumbest things with no base to what they’re saying. Maybe my definition of discussion is different than theirs. You can try to explain something and get hit with “bro idc it’s not good to my ears I don’t like it” or “idc about that the melody sounds good af idc about what they’re saying” etc you know? So at this point I’m like f*** it
Meet me on the fresh train, yes I'm in the building

The drum pattern is reminiscent of early 50s black Rock pioneers. The guitar riff evokes longing and sadness. The bass is very creative and gives the song a much needed groove. The layering is textbook Stevie Wonder. The vocals are emotional, perfect for such heartbreaking lyrics. I have never related to a song at such deep and personal level.
mbdtf is the worst mixed album of all-time
idk there are downright terrible choices made, but some songs sound pretty extravagant
If you speak in terms that are not recognizable to the common man and refuse to explain them you are using them to have the upper hand in a pretentious fashion. There’s nothing cool about being bourgeoisie
Why y'all gotta do Cookies like this?
