No it's not, the black community is the black community.

You... Basically doing what I stated was the problem in the OP It is trickle down effect lol, do you also believe Obama didn't create trickle down policies that really didn't help the black community (in fact he hurt black wealth even more and it was already s***)

Black media outlets don't have to report POC dealings. Black outlets report black dealing with specificity to black people, not POC. She could've called out other racial minority outlets for not reporting about her bookclub (they didn't; I've been following her book club), she did not. When it's time to be critical nobody has an issue fixing their fingers to tell the black community they need to do something. All the positive s*** is a bunch of "POC".

BMO’s don’t even report solely on black issues or things, they talk about any race as long as they’ll bring in clicks. That’s what Noname was getting at with her posts. She specifically called out BMO’s because they didn’t post s*** about her until it was something negative that brought in clicks. Her bringing up the POC book club was just an example of a positive she’s done for the black community that they passed on talking about in favor of something negative.

Like I said, people use POC to down play and spin black peoples problems all the time. Noname wasn’t doing that. She was pointing out a well known issue with BMO’s.

And in regards to you thinking just because she made a book club thats focused on other minority groups besides just black people means its not for the black community...we can dead it cause if you don’t see how that doesn’t make sense then It’s not even worth me explaining it

You just turn a blind sight to when non-black people stand up for your black people. Palestinians standing in solidarity for black lives matter is a good example

My guy these anecdotal instances do not even begin to even out how black people ride for others.

    You know damn well, lmao.

When did I argue the history of slavery? And why do you insist on believing slavery is the only driving force for anti Blackness or assume I believe so?

You’re saying that nbpoc are anti-black. I’m telling you how they have become anti-black after centuries of living in harmony in Asia and Africa is because of imperialism and colonialism, which are AlSO the root of slavery

You keep equating POC to black when that is literally my whole point.

Anyways, she had no problem criticizing BMO's (just like Lena Waithe, LaKeith, Donald Glover, and these other entertainers), but when positive comments are being made now it's POC. Nobody has an issue being specific when they're criticizing something black but have completely different energy for POC.

If you don't see the danger of this framing then yes, we can dead this lmao.

Do you expect me to be understanding? I won't.

So like I said, you basically just saying I'm right but thought it would be a nice waste of time to throw in a history lesson I did not ask for.

I don't live in that so called time period of harmony I live in the now, and too many are anti Black and continue to sit in that anti Blackness.

If we were in harmony, we can be in harmony again. Something that Malcolm X realized after he left the Nation of Islam too

Were coming into a new age of upper class whites coming up with a vocabulary to obsessively distance themselves from being racist. This term bothers me because it acts as if white people are the main characters on this earth when they're about 10% globally. If anything y'all are white and everyone else is just the world

Y'all keep bringing up these names like I'm supposed to just agree with them, black activism cannot stay of it's past only.

It's ok for everyone to center their own until we do it.

That's why we couldn't keep Tulsa for more than 5 seconds but neighborhoods just like that exist.

It’s not a fantasy. It’s a reality in a lot of places. And these communities are imaginary. No one is really American, except the indigenous. And African encompasses different colors and ethnicities. Same as Mexican, brown, muslim, Arab, Latinx. My point is, so long as we understand that our identities are actually fragile, then solidarity and unity will stop being fantasies

Noname is NOT doing what you’re saying the others are doing. She’s NOT using POC as a replacement or equal to black, she using POC because her book club is not just black centered, it’s other minorities in their.

Her problem with BMO’s is that they only brought up Noname, a BLACK ARTIST, when she was in some s***. For some clicks. But they stayed quiet when Noname, a BLACK artist, did something positive for the community, like a making a book club that focuses on putting people on too BLACK literature among other things.

It wouldn’t have made sense for her to say “POC media outlets” cause if you go to the Latina or Asian news room they damn sure aren’t talking about Noname. It’s the BMO’s that are.

It's a fantasy because we do not live in that moment. I live in America so I build my community in the only place I know, and I am focused on Black people like me. We have our cultures here and we have a community.

The rest is relying on other communities to want to be where the Black American lies, at the bottom. Many will not no matter how much you exclaim at the top of your lungs it will ruin our so called unified oppressor.

I see your entire point, you're missing mine lmao.

Noname has done this historically, like I said I follow her book club. This is just the most recent example cause the s*** happened a few hours ago and her black ass has no problem complaining about black s*** when she can very well call out POC outlets for not reporting her POC BOOK CLUB. You're making a stupid excuse for POC outlets not mentioning "no damn Noname" when her book club is for POC, not "just" black people, if it's for POC like she said she should take issue with all POC outlets not mentioning her POC book club. For the record, generally I actually agree with her on media only festering off possibly divisive statements like the one she made.

Black media is messy and should be criticized for lots of things but this cornball bullshit of only calling them out is suspect, sorry. Noname suspect as hell. Call out all POC outlets for ignoring your POC book club, black media isn't obligated anymore than other POC outlets to post about a book club that isn't specific to them. Noname HAS talked to outlets that aren't black centered too, and her book club is not black centered it's for POC and that's perfectly fine and I still f*** with it... But send that energy to EVERYBODY when your damn project is for EVERYBODY.

  • Dec 5, 2019

Niggas can't even stay on code. The same outlets she wants to report her book club are the same outlets she won't give interviews to.

Noname has given more non-black outlets sit down time than black ones. Girl bye.

    Your not seeing my point

I don’t even give a f*** about Noname tbh and I don’t keep up with her so if she’s done this before then that’s that.

But in that specific example, all I’m saying is it don’t really match up with what you were saying because she’s not going out of her way to make POC seem like a positive and black as a negative. She said POC because her book club isn’t black exclusive. She called out BMO’s because at that moment, she was directly addressing an issue she had with BMO’s. And it’s not like she’s wrong. There’s no putting one of the terms above the other there, it’s just right word usage.

Fair enough, I still don't see her need for it when she seconds later talks about not granting interviews to those same outlets; like black media owes her anything.

This thread is proving my point even more, what is the problem with black people being specific Why do we have to try and unite POC? Why is that our duty? We are not mules.

Just like they dont want us to have our own culture, they dont want us to have our own political issues and solutions. The strive for black advancement always triggers racists and so called "color-blind" people.
