He'll always be remembered for what he's done for the scene, that's true. No one else has done more. But people are gonna remember this loose cannon behavior as well.
Lets not forget he went pop along with everyone else and came back when grime had a resurgence its just really silly

A lot of the classic tracks have complete bullshit about other MCs on them.

I think Wiley still has the ability to come through with something a lot better than both Stormzy songs. It looks sad to watch Wiley get the cheap visuals while Kaylum makes Stormzy responses on the fly. Stormzy definitely got the upperhand

There's some good stuff about this moment tho. It's hilarious that the tracks are being played on BBC Radio 1 daytime, you never used to hear grime let alone war dubs on daytime radio. Also, the fact that 'i'm so bbc breakfast' is being used in the biggest grime beef of the year shows how far the scenes come

He always kept doing grime when he went pop tho. He'd still do radio sets or clashes or grime tracks at the same time as his biggest hits.

Stormzy does a great job of lifting up the scene but you can tell his career is definitely focused on other things. Wiley always kept grime at the forefront of his career from what I can remember. He never went all the way for years like Dizzee.

I was aware he was dropping loads of music but wasn't most of it leaks from old stuff and other material that was just lying around? Wasn't aware he was doing a lot more though, so im probably wrong there then

And yeah stormzy barely does grime now days. I dont mind SOME of his slower things, but i miss the know me from stormzy too

He leaked a lot, but he released new music and did other grime stuff at the same time.

When he was doing stuff like Wearing My Rolex he was still doing grime radio freestyles and he dropped a pop project (see clear now) and a grime album (grime wave-the better album imo) in the same year not that far apart.

From memory he did similar stuff in the 12/13 pop run too. He's never really left in the same way Dizzee did. I remember when Dizzee did some grime tracks a couple years ago and people were so happy because it had been so long they never thought it would happen again. Wiley never went full pop in the same way.

I don't really get why people hate on Dizzee for going full pop tho, what he achieved was hard to imagine before he did it. And he still gave us 2 solid grime albums and 1 classic before he did.

Ahhh fair enough. Thanks for the insight, i wasn't around then, hell im not even from england, i try my best to get my knowledge from reading up and hearing what other grimeheads say.

Yeah i remember when dizzee dropped pagans, people defo were quite happy. Stuff like bassline junky is still great
Really do hope he comes back with a full grime album some day

It's only memorable to me because they were both getting so popular at the time, more than a lot of people thought they could. I don't know if it crossed over much in other countries.

Next Dizzee album will probably be full grime. He's producing again now, and the beats are great. He hasn't produced his own stuff since BIDC outside of a few songs. He's been working with Yizzy, P Money, Skepta etc.

The pop phase was really dark for the most part but a lot of surprisingly big hits did come out of it

And thats great to here. Never understood why he didnt produce more, bidc production is amazing. Loved the ep he did a while back, quality was one of my fav songs in 2018
