Yeah stores often name things slightly or wholly differently. I think some have their own naming conventions to help customers find things because brands (like us) can use kind of abstract names. When customers want to find “denim trucker” they probably aren’t looking for a “Sundae Jacket” etc.
I don’t really mind - the name is there on the hang tag etc and the stores 100% get given the names correctly so it’s just down to them. Personally I feel like it’s a mistake not to use our names as people search for particular items and either wouldn’t find something available if it’s under another name or might be worried it’s somehow different.

Yeah I get you. I often google the product name from a brands website to find other stockists of that particular product so they will be missing out on customers
Has anyone ever had to change addresses during a preorder?
Couldn't find anything under the shipping tab and I'm gonna be somewhere different in two months but don't know where yet

Yep happens often - you just need to email the team they’ll sort you out. shop@storymfg.com works!
Lowkey bode type
Bode not the first to do patchwork and they not gonna be the last

Appreciate if you can’t/don’t want to say but if you can answer what price are we looking at for the patchwork jacket? Need to start saving already lol
They’re going to be really expensive. The most expensive pieces we’ve made so far, although not quite as expensive as someone like Bode. I think the jacket is around £870 but I’m not 100%
They take a really long time to make, and they’re made of expensive fabric so there’s not much to be done about it. I think we managed to make the vest the same price or close to old season ones but the jacket and trousers are higher.
I know most companies don’t like to be open about not killing it but while we are happy and surviving (and in some areas thriving) this is a super tough year. The price of everything went sky high this year and as a result we are really struggling to strike a balance. Cotton prices went up, we continue increase wages, and transport etc all went through the roof and believe it or not our margins aren’t fantastic. I always feel so apologetic about pricing but at the same time it’s just the true cost of not being a cruel company.

Thanks for the info, better get saving up for it. Hope it didn’t come across as complaining about the price, just wanted to get a ballpark figure to know what sort of funds to put aside
The costs going up makes total sense with covid/brexit especially as the UK and India have been hit so bad.
Thanks for the info
I was wondering what makes you put in certain things for pre order and not others, what goes into that decision?
No don't think you're complaining - I'm just sensitive about it when talking to customers but that feeling dissipates when speaking to those who make it.
We used to have the whole collection for preorder up until a couple of years ago. The collection then grew a bit too big which meant it would take 2 weeks of solid work and £££ to shoot and upload it all. On top of that about 30% of those that preorder don't read the information no matter how clear we try and be and I was stuck with 5 or so months of people emailing asking for their order, asking to swap, change sizes, be reminded of their order etc. It was a lot more work that I could personally manage.
Now we only offer a few things for preorder every season and we use it more as a tool to do cool things that we couldn't wholesale. The spiral handwoven stuff is incredibly expensive, slow and special. We can't make that much and we don't want to - but we also don't want to charge over £1k for it which would be the price if it included all the various markups we would have to.
We also can't preorder anything that's going to be in other stockists because it would be undercutting them time wise and price wise. This didn't matter than much in the past but now we are bigger everyone notices. Now we only preorder stuff that's exclusive to storymfg.com (and soon storymfg.jp).
